Seems to have to have no place on the Pirates squad. Only 29 and can play either first or outfield...takes care of the whole manny thing

Good OB%'s throughout his career. Hes lost in the OF, and produced with Millar like numbers last year. If hes not good enough for Pitts., hes not good enough for Boston. Ive had enough of the Millar type player (No glove, no spped, no power, no production). I however wouldnt mind a Wilson/Nixon platoon. If he is our everyday LF we are in trouble.

It's not the hes not good enough for pitt...it's b/c of the signing of Burnitz. LAst year he has a couple of injuries to his hands. Could be a good buy and a total bust. I think this is a chance we need to take. If he returns to his 2004 production we'll have a 20hr+ guy with another 85rbi+ to help out Big Papi

Wilson as a 4th outfielder is OK-- anything more than that too much playing time. If he comes cheap he could be an insurance policy in case Youk gets hurt or struggles at first or in case Ramirez is gone and we don't get another left fielder, but I wouldn't give the Pirates any real talent for Wilson.

No I'm talking about if we trade Manny for Tejada We are close to getting Reed (CF) and getting Tejada (SS) that would leave us with one opening LF. Wilson could hold the forst for a couple of year and his fielding percentage is that so horrible, I think it's around a 975 or something

Yea i think that this is a risk we should take; if you take a look at his '04 numbers, they are not bad: 29 hr and 82 rbi. I think we should go for it, not necessarily as a starter, but i would feel good about him as our 4th OF.

I dont even feel good about him as a fourth OF. He can't play center, and he is a below average OF. I would rather see him in a platoon role rather than count on him as the fourth OF. They need someone who can play all 3 OF positions as a fourth OF, also its usually good if that guy has a little speed. Wilson isn't qualified as a fourth OF. He may be better than Stern, however I consider Stern more of a fourth OF than Wilson.

I dont know why Pit signed Burnitz...Wilson better days are not yet behind him. The guy can hit. He strikes out a lot, but he hits for power and maintains good OBPs. Would love to have him on the sox as a 4th OF. I believe he can also catch a little. Nice versatility...I wonder what the Pirates would look for, for a guy like Wilson. I have no idea of the market for such a player.

He has caught 11.0 Innings at Catcher in the past two seasons. I wouldnt count on it as a C, and he is a below average RF and an awful 1B. Average RF for a 1B is 8.07, Wilson was at 7.12. As a C, he has 4 PB in 47 games, with a FP of .986, awful for a C.
