Rotoworld: The Blue Jays have interest in acquiring Craig Wilson, according to the Toronto Star. "We've always liked him, but I don't know what his availability is," Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi admitted. While the Pirates have said that they're keeping Wilson even though they don't have a position open for him, there's a good chance they'd part with him without requiring all that much in return. The Guardians, Red Sox and A's are among the other teams that could be interested.

Blue Jays already have 4 outfielders as it is in Catalanotto, Wells, Rios, and Reed. But hey if theyre considering have 5, whatever floats their boat I guess.

Well, Craig Wilson also plays catcher. Is there anything going on with Zaun?

Thats why I want Craig Wilson (Or Robby Hammock, or Eli Marrero, etc). We NEED someone who can catch as well as play other positions if we are going to have Posada DH at all this season. I dont see why Cashman doesnt understand this. Wilson would be perfect, he would be a big bat off the bench as well as provide much needed versatility to the bench.

newsday is suggesting that the Yankees could be interested in acquiring Bengie Molina, which would shift Posada to more of a DH role

That is a mistake in my opinion. If we carry three catchers one of them NEEDS to be able to play other positions as well that way we dont destroy our bench depth. reason why i've suggested guys like Robby Hammock, Craig Wilson, Eli Marrero, etc.

Wilson is terrible behind the plate, if Torre, Tracy, or whoever the hell manages him next year pencils him in there, they should be shot. He can hit, but where would he play for the Yankees? Better question, who would the Yankees give up? The Pirates would want at least Eric Duncan in return. If the Yankees don't offer him, why would the Pirates trade someone who can hit 25 HR's?

Getting back on topic, plain and simple this is a horrendous trade for the Blue Jays. Glaus is more likely to get hurt then to play a full season for the Blue Jays. If you examine both players' WARP numbers last year, (Measure's offense and defense) Hudson slightly edged Glaus (5.2 to 5.0). Hudson will turn Brandon Webb into a potential Cy Young winner. He could have done that with Burnett. Unless Aaron Hill whacks 20 HR's, and plays at least average defense, then the D-Backs win on this deal.

From what i've heard/read a team could get Wilson pretty cheaply. If they were so high on him they wouldnt have gone and picked up players that play every position he plays. He is obviously the odd-man out in Pittsburgh and could be had for a pretty cheap price. And yes, I am aware that Wilson is pretty bad behind the plate, I didnt mean to get him so that he could start or anything. The backup catcher is Stinnett, I want a 3rd catcher in case of emergency. For instance, Posada is DHing, Stinnett is catching, Stinnett gets hurt. Rather than bringing Posada in to catch and losing our DH forcing the pitcher to hit, we could pluyg Wilson/Hammock/Marrero in behind the plate for the rest of the game. Something like that.
