This game is probably the greatest upset in college history outside of chaminade beating #1 virginia in the 1980's.

Bigger than NC state over Houston? Maybe

I don't think so. It wasn't the type of game most people were going into thinking "George Mason doesn't have a chance". It wasn't like they knocked off a couple of scrub teams and then had to face the mighty Huskies in their first test... they beat some very good basketball teams to get their and had a homefield advantage.

Either way, I look at the game and the season like this -- no matter how good George Mason played (and they made EVERYTHING), and no matter how carefree UConn seemed at times -- the Huskies still had a shot to get to the Final Four on Browns 3 pointer. That's impressive to me. Mason played well enough to blow out a lot of basketball teams on Sunday.

All-American teams were announced today.

First Team

Randy Foye (Villanova, Big East)

Shelden Williams (Duke, ACC)

JJ Redick (Duke, ACC)

Adam Morrison (Gonzaga, WCC)

Brandon Roy (Washington, Pac-10)

Second Team

Dee Brown (Illinois, Big Ten)

Rodney Carney (Memphis, C-USA)

PJ Tucker (Texas, Big 12)

Rudy Gay (UConn, Big East)

Leon Powe (Cal, Pac-10)

Third Team

Allan Ray (Villanova, Big East)

Craig Smith (BC, ACC)

Nick Fazekas (Nevada, WAC)

Glen Davis (LSU, SEC)

Tyler Hansborough (UNC, ACC)

So yeah, ACC has 4, Big East has 3, Pac 10 has 2, all more than the SEC's 1 player, who was third team.

Also, both Duke and Villanova have more players on all 3 teams than the SEC's entire conference has. Hell, Duke has more first teamers than the SEC has players on all 3 teams. I dont really know why you, GIARSF, say that the SEC is better, as clearly these teams are dominated by the Big East and ACC.

That's fine GIARSF, no one is faulting you for loving the SEC. But by saying that you will argue for that which you like over all others, you are painting yourself into a corner as a fanboy. Nobody is going to take you seriously because you will always rate your preference over that which deserves praise, despite evidence to the contrary.

What stats, history, or records have you supplied to the current argument that the SEC hasn't been a power conference in men's hoops in recent history? The answer is none. You brought up UK's 7 championships, none of them in the last 7 years. You brought up the fact that the SEC has had a good year in the tourney this year, but that is just one good year compared to consistent performance by the other conferences in recent history. Quite frankly, you and your preference are the only thing I see in your corner as it pertains to the discussion at hand. Try again.

Yea, but i still have history, and records, and stats in my corner

If the SEC is the better asketball bconference based on how the teams are doing in this tournament, then the Big East is the better football conference. West Virginia - 38, Georgia - 35.

I don't believe that's true in the slightest bit, but it's not that much more absurd than what you're suggesting.

Yeah, I'll probably be cheering for LSU and George Mason, then if they both win, I'll have a difficult time deciding because they're both incredible stories.

LSU, a team of kids that basically grew up with eachother and had to deal with Hurricane Katrina and George Mason, a team that some people thought didn't even deserve to be in the tournament.

Taurean Green has been the difference thus far. He's been unconscious. That said, GMU has to be happy being only down 5 after a half where they couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat. Go Pats!

EDIT: And the 2nd half begins with 2 Humphrey treys. If UF stays this hot from behind the arc, GMU will be headed home. They either need Florida to come back to Earth, or they need to start draining some.

Im looking foward to a LSU/Florida championship

george mason had a great run throughout the tourney, but it looks like its about to end

UCLA looked really good in the first half. I really like the prospect of a UCLA/UF championship game. I think those two teams match-up really well. Similar athleticism, good big men, good guards. That would be a really good game.

I don't have the exact quote. but...

"I don't see Bill Walton. I don't see Reggie Miller. And I don't see John Wooden coaching the team. We shouldn't be afraid of that." - Glen Davis

Uh-huh, uh-huh.

any predictions for tonight?? florida runs a zone which seems to give ucla trouble...plus they are more athletic than gonzaga...the last team that ran a zone defense. but outiside of their starting 5, they have no depth and are gonna live or die on making their shots because with the style of defense ucla brings, plus the depth to keep rotating fresh players out there that contribute...its gonna be a great DEFENSIVE game.

i'll say ucla 67 fla 63

Good to hear ASU got a good coach finally, btw, MGB, is Krueger a senior?

Kevin Krueger is a senior. Yeah, he was the team this year. It will be interesting to see how they do next year. I mean 2 or 3 years removed from beating memphis in the tourney, and they are pretty much garbage. It would be nice to see them as a decent team, it's obnoxious to hear the UA fans bragging about them always running ASU outta the gym, and whos got a better program, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Ha, I was gonna say which Krueger, Kevin or Bryson but I knew who you meant. B)
