First off I just want to say thank you for mentioning lenny dinardo. I love lenny dinardo, in a strictly pleutonic kind of way, but a love none the less. I would love to see him be a starter on this club. Actually wow, imagine if the red sox dealt all three Clement Arroyo and Wells and gave the job to dinardo? I've just had an epiphany. The sun has just peaked out from behind the clouds. I am happy. SOLUTION!

Deal Wells for BP Help, Arroyo for reed, and include clement in a package that will bring us back a lugo or such. The price on lugo is out of hand right now, but I think that even the rays know they are a veteran pitcher or two away from being a competitive team. Clement and Shoppach or Clement and Moss, something like that, could get it done. I'm not interested in donating them Marte or Lester or Papelbon just because they aren't a good team, but a deal with some fairness like that? Absolutley. Hell, I just became way happier about the whole tejada situation than I was, provided none of the untouchables get involved.

Schilling

Beckett

Wakefield

Papelbon

Dinardo

Thats a rotation with some promise.

Um....im going to go out on a limb and disagree with you: the Devil Rays are NOT one or two veteran pitchers away from being competitive. I would also feel much better with DiNardo in the pen i dont feel too secure about him being in our starting rotation.

Look at Dinardo's numbers from his call up, and he shut down the orioles last year in his one start. Over 7 innings I believe he made them look bad. That is a good offensive club. I think he gave up 3 earned in that game, but I remember the defense didn't help him any, he pitched great. I can pretty much guarentee I have seen more of him than you, which to no fault of your own, gives me a better sample to judge him on.

Secondly, why do you think the devil rays won't be competitive? I think they have a very good young team on paper. They're outfield is Crawford, Baldelli and Huff, three solid players with the bat and in the field. Jorge Cantu had a breakout year with the bat and Lugo isn't a slouch either. They have upton waiting in the wings and Lee at first base, all of these guys are solid. Kazmir is a very good pitcher also.

They are definetly a few vet pitchers, 2 maybe 3 away from competing. Thats not a small margine, and clement doesn't turn their franchise around by any means, but he does help them more than he helps us. A lot more. If they could get a hold of Julian Taveras, get clement from us, and one more guy from god knows where, they may be better than you think. Don't judge based on past record. Use you're head, look at their team, and think. They're solid. Look harder.

I don't mind Dinardo, and his stats are suprisingly good, but I just don't think he's that great. Being a lefty makes him more valuable, but even so he's not as good as Arroyo.

I don't think he's starter quality. He may be the lefty we need in the bullpen.
