The Los Angles Times reported Wednesday that, according to baseball sources, trade talks between the Angels and Red Sox concerning Manny will probably expand to include the D-Backs (former Epstein assistant John Byrnes is the Arizona GM), who could send third baseman Troy Glaus to the Red Sox in a potential three-way deal that could also include Angels first baseman Darin Erstad.

Judging by Theo's comments, he doesn't sem burned out and seems ready to jump into another team. LA might be a good fit for him. Strong minor league system, good competition from an interleague rival across town and a franchise that is starved for winning.

Theo and Manny both need to go to the NL so we don't have to worry about either of them till the WS. I don't like Manny going to the Angels at all. I know Vlad did nothing in the post season, but with Manny's protection they'll be almost as dangerous as we were with manny and papi. If we're trading Manny I don't want it to be to a team that we're going to have to go through every post season, like the Angels.

I can't see Theo going from Boston to the Dodgers. He isn't going to want to go from a good team to a team that is is really bad shape. As for Manny he's made it pretty clear that he wants to go to the Angels if he does go anywhere. Which it looks like he will considering he said he won't report to spring training.

If Theo went to the LA Dodgers and was able to clear up that team from there disaster.....the more power he gains. I wouldn't necessarily put it past him and he did not rule out the idea of talking to them once he handles the Red Sox situation up to the GM meetings.

They were talking about this on ESPN News today and they said that the Dbacks would be "showered" with prospects from the Sox and Angels. I just want to know why exactly we would give up anything more than Manny. We're already giving up our best hitter(or second depends who you like more) why in gods name would we also give up prospects? I don't care who we get or what prospects we trade ... if a Red Sox prospect is moved in this deal then it makes no sense what so ever.

I think the Angels lineup, and the 1-2 punch of Vlad and Manny would be BETTER than The Red Sox lineup consisting of Ortiz and Ramirez.

 

Being that the Angels totally wipe their asses with pinstriped jerseys that feature a "NY" over the heart, this is a trade that I DO NOT want to go down. Especially since the Sox will be filling two of their holes with power bats and good defense.

That seems strange cause well lets see:

 

Boston: Manny Ramirez

Arizona: Troy Glaus

LA Angels: Darin Erstad

 

...clearly this is a move to free up money but at the same time we are moving EASILY the best of the three in that list. Great we get to take on the contracts of Erstad and Glaus but as a favor almost....WE should be getting "showered" with prospects. Maybe not from Arizona since we aren't giving them anything but certainly the Angels...I would expect two prospects from them. Obivously Ervin Santan is the popular name but another young infielder (since they have so many..I want Brandon Wood) would be real nice to have. How about:

 

Boston: Troy Glaus, Darin Erstad, Ervin Santana, Brandon Wood

Angels: Manny Ramirez

DBacks: Bronson Arroyo, Howie Kendrick, Kelly Shoppach

well i just read in the LA TIMES a couple of days ago, Theo was contacted from a 3rd party on behalf of the Dodgers and he told them they would need to wait for about a week before he considered whether or not he would seriously consider it. Personally, I can't believe McCrook would shell out the asking price, especially since it seems like Tommy is the puppetmaster trying to bring in his own guys (Hershiser & Valentine). They would have preferred to have hired him by the weekend in time for the gm meetings next week.

as for manny, i hear the angels want to see if they can lure konerko and keep their young prospects, but will consider him as a complicated option if konerko falls through. though with Kotchman and Kendry Morales at 1B, I wouldn't go after him.
