I have tried unmeasurably to be magnanimous on this board, but there are just some of you begging to be shown REALITY.

You haven't even come close to being magnanimous. Anytime someone says anything that isn't laced with absolute fanboyish adoration about the White Sox, you rip into them with your "bitter/loser" taunts, even if they have a point. You called everyone a "whaa whaa" crybaby for saying the umps f***ed up in game 2 of the ALCS when the umps did f*** up. You resort to name calling when He Hate Me mentioned that the Sox were an unknown team when the ratings support that claim.

A magnanimous person would be more accepting of opinions contrary to their own, but that just isn't your style. If you don't like it, you ridicule it without even bothering to verify if there is some validity to it.

You carry a huge chip on your shoulder and overreact way too often. If you truly are in Law School, I suggest you go to anger management or something, because this inability to hold your tongue when something upsets you won't help in that line of work.

If I might offer another perspective from a White Sox fan standpoint.

I for one do not begrudge Boston or NY fans for not knowing much about the White Sox, since ESPN rarely gives balanced coverage for baseball. Constrast their coverage of football, for instance. When the St. Louis Rams came seemingly out of nowhere to win the Super Bowl, the ESPN adjusted its coverage accordingly. Of course, fans in the major markets weren't as interested in the Rams as they would be in their own teams, but ESPN made the adjustment anyway. Same is true for Phoenix Suns last year, for another example.

That simply doesn't happen in baseball. This year, the White Sox led wire to wire and went 11-1 in the playoffs. Only now are most analysts admitting they missed the boat about this team. But long time fans of this team knew we by late May that we had something special. Even before this year, many fans of other teams have noticed that ESPN does not cover their teams as much as the Bos/NY rivalry even when their teams are doing really well. In fact, it's running joke in my fantasy league, which is made of of guys who are fans of at least 7 different teams.

The whole thing about White Sox fans not attending games has been overplayed on this board. Consider that 1) The Chicago Tribune/WGN market machine does not own the White Sox; 2) the fan base is not nearly as large as the 6-state New England area or the NY/NJ/Conn metro area, but we do have a sizable fan base; 3) it doesn't take into account that we have hated our owner ever since 94 and 97 and many have been turned off by his putting baseball politics ahead of winning; and 4) until 94 and 97 and WGN Superstation, the White Sox regularly outdrew the Cubs, much like the Mets have outdrawn the Yanks in some of their more successful years until recently.

I always thought winning cures all. For me, winning it all is enough, and its not about any other teams that could be mentioned. As a lifelong White Sox fan, I always just asked that they win it in my lifetime. That others had not paid much attention before now matters not a bit to me.

"NY/NJ/Conn"

Noooooooooo. I take offense to that. Connecticut (where I grew up..) is 50% Red Sox fans, 35% Yankee fans on the Western side and 15% Mets fans when they are winning.

Just had to clear that up. ;)

The series didn't seem so much full of dominating pitching performances as much as terrible hitting. Game 3 and 4 both teams' hitters combined to leave 88 players on base.

give the sox credit. they got it done when everyone doubted them.

very deep lineup, no easy outs.

so i kiss up to both fans? well, here's a nice kiss-up:

we swept you. we dominated you. we beat you down like your 86 previous years all rolled into one series. we conquered you like Alexander moving through Mayberry. You went home. We sent you there. We won the World Series.

There we go; tit for tat. I have tried unmeasurably to be magnanimous on this board, but there are just some of you begging to be shown REALITY. There are some of you here (BoSox84, One Red Seat, etc) who are really decent people, and I thank you for conversing about the playoffs. You were a joy to have discourse with.

The rest of you are bitter, hypocritical, self-aggrandizing, asses suffering from an exaggerated sense of baseball team self-importance. I have alway enjoyed rooting for the Red Sox and this is no reflection on Red Sox nation- you have an overwhelmingly positive and decent fan base. But the few that spoiled the bunch for me here are just bitter. bitter that you're home for the winter. You have acted just exactly like your hated skankee rival fans. it's amazing to me how some of you could go so terminally assholish within a year of doing something as wonderful as winning your first series in 86 years. I wish the real Red Sox fans well and hope we see you in the playoffs again next year.

To the rest of you that, no matter how decent White Sox fans tried to be to you, were colored by a bitterness that clouded your ability to enjoy the playoffs without your team, I send you my pity. this is for you:

We spanked you like a naughty toddler and sent you to bed without supper. We bounced you like so many basketballs on the floor, and beat you down with dimensions not see in MLB playoffs in quite a while. We went 11-1 and some commentators are calling this White Sox teams one of the best 3 of the last 30-40 years. They're calling us the best pure 'team' to win the Series in quite a while. We're enjoying it and screw your quick-turned-within-a-year arrogant ass attitudes when we tried to enjoy it.

Have a nice, cold winter. If needed, feel free to snuggle up with Cubs, Skankees, and Astros fans for warmth and comfort.

I'm out.

Peace. WORLD CHAMPION CHICAGO WHITE SOX!!!

First off you talk like your acomplishment this year was better than ours last year. Your team got every freaking break imaginable, the Red Sox last year came from a 3-0 hole to make History, your Sox beat a Red Sox team that didnt have its ace or closer, then after getting a ******** call in game 2(not saying the angels would have won that game but if they did the sox would have been done) you beat an Angels team that lost its Cy-young pitcher, then you beat a spent Astros team, thats starting pitching was depleted from just trying to get to the Post Season. Some Acomplishment, this was the weakest year of playoff teams, everybody had key guys missing, mind you all the games agiansnt the Astros were close and could have gone either way. Now lets go back to the 04 Red Sox, who never once were behind to the Cardinals in the 4 game dominate sweep. Yeah the best "Pure Team" what about the sox last year who had just as good starting pitching a deep bullpen a great lineup good defense and plently of speed. Its funny how you say that the WhiteSox fans are better fans than Red SOx fans. The REal Sox have sold out over 200 hundred straight games, how many games did the ChiSOX sell out 10-15, GIVE ME A BREAK nobody will ever care about the WhiteSox as they do the Red Sox.. Red Sox baseball isnt just a game to watch, its a commitment a pasion, you just cant say that about the Chi Sox who dont put people in the seats expcept post season time. I was not bitter when the our season came to an end either, it cetanially was a frustrating season, but under the injury circumstances and prolonged slump it was great for the sox to even be in penate race... Also its completly lame that you join a message board off a team you dont support just becuase your team beat us... So next seaon in mid-july when Fenway is packed to capasity and the U.S. Cellular field has about 15,000 fans watching a game, we will know what the real baseball city is, Chicago doesnt even compare... Also. not that you ChiTownSox77; said this but The Whitesox just havent been competiative one W.S in 88 years before this year, the Red Sox were mostly always in it till the end when something imfamous would happen and the sox would have a dramtic lose, i wouldnt say finsihing in last place year in and year would be a curse as some national media people have tried to make it out to be. 86 years of true heart-breaking misory made last year better than any White Sox fan can fee right now

Just thought i would vent on that one

thanks for the tip. your credentials notwithinstanding, your opinion means NOTHING. In a court of law, you would be my dinner. your advice, given that you are not anywhere near credentialed to speak on the law, means nothing. your comments are, in this light, laughable. hey, maybe i can operate on you should you ever need it- i read the journal of the american medical association...

all White Sox fans got on this site were whining crybabies complaining about every last single call as if baseball was rigging it to win us a Championship. You're bitter because we PASTED you out of the playoffs.

As for the 'always in last place' comment someone else just mentioned... You're obviously blind or illiterate because, having read a standing sheet for the last 15 years, you'd know that we've finished lower than 2nd place just twice. We've won 4 division titles, a cy young, two mvp's, 6 gold gloves, uncounted silver sluggers (Frank and Robin), and one World Series. What have you done, Boston? Your post blamed 'infamous' incidents for your losses in the series'. You just weren't good enough to win in '68, 75, 86. Why can't you admit it? You blame curses like a little child shaking his fist at god. What a bunch of babies. You like to think, having fully imbibed the ESPN propoganda on Red Sox-Yankees, that you have the best rivalry in sports and that only you two matter. What a joke. Funny, cuz last year, Sox-Cubs was voted the best rivalry in baseball by those at ESPN.Com. You wouldn't know that to see the coverage, though. Keep blaming curses. Keep making media statements about how special you guys are. No one cares about you outside of NY and Boston. You had a good year last year, Boston. It wasn't enough to keep you from turning into Skankee arrogant asses. Good enough.

We BLITZED you guys in the first round.

You deserved to be home. You don't deserve to be the center of baseball television. YOu aren't special. You traded Babe Ruth. then, you lose for 86 years and blame supernatural occurances? That's so childish it's humorous.

Good riddance to you and your negative comments calling us South Siders 'White trash'. If that's how you feel, you can all go right to Skankee stadium hell.

you're a dolt and i'm done with all the fools on this board. you can all rot.

WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS, 2005. Go to hell, Skankee fans. Ride along with em, Boston.

I thought Boston was better than this. you guys are douches.

this had me laughing hard ;)

oh ok just because a poll on ESPN say so, thats how it is. who else has polls remembered that came out over a year ago??

i mean cmon dude, red sox and yankees are the biggest rivalry in baseball, nay... in all of sports.

cubs and white sox will only play against each other in spring training, the interleague games, or the smallest chance a cubs/white sox world series. red sox and yankees have had such a long and tenuous history against one another in the past 100 years, playing up to 20 games a season against one another. as well as multiple playoff showdowns. He is purely dilluted, they arent the biggest rivalry. not at all...

Not to go on about banned members but its sad that Chi77 doesnt even know the name to his own ballpark, U.S Cellular field Its not Comisky anymore

I personally think people should call is Comisky, instead of going with the commercial name. Just like people should call it Seahawks Stadium, even though it is Quest Field now.

wow, he was a pretty annoying bugger. I don't think I've even been that annoyed at a Red Sox fan before. He reminded meof the short, hypersensitive guy who will kill you if you mention anything about height.
