You hear him talking in the postgame? He was like "Now they can show me the money. This is for Venezuela."

And the GM was like "Whaaaaaaaaa??? I hopes we goss a manager nex yearh."

That was weird.

I cannot believe that final play of the game. Uribe getting to that grounder...I mean the runner was two steps, maybe three away from first base when Uribe threw it. What an amazing play.

White Sox have won 15 of their last 16, and have now brought home the World Series title. Well done ChiSox, this is truly a team built to last.

Well I'm not even sure they'll make the playoffs next year if they don't resign Konerko.

Congrats ChiSox.

I have to give a Mega-Congratulations to the White Sox and their fans. What a season. With the exception of August 1-September 29, this was a remarkable team and very fun to watch. Even though I was rooting for the Astros (Clemens, Pettitte, Vizcaino, etc.), this World Series was very exciting and very fun to watch. I would have to say that other than 2001, this was the most exciting Series of the new millenium. Congrats to the White Sox, and I hope their next 88 arent as bad as their last.

------------------

So lets see;

Red Sox win in 1918 and 2004

White Sox win in 1917 and 2005

..so if the trend continues, I predict the Cubs will win in 2014 ;)

I agree, well not about the Konerko part. Though if their pitching can still be consistent, and no major injuries, I would say they have a real good chance next year

Not to take anything from ChiSox fans, but I think 2002 dwarfs this series in terms of drama and excitement.

very arguable point, as the 02 series was also a great one, but in my opinion just due to the fact that its been 88 years for the Sox and just how this Series played out, I give it the edge. But you're right, it could be argued either way.

Yeah they'll definatly have a chance as long as they have that pitching but Konerko is the driving force in that lineup

This was about the worst thing that Fox execs were thinking. a 4 game sweep by one unknown team over another unknown team. Combine that with the Miers withdrawal, 2,000 dead in Iraq and looming indictments, this must be the worst week of Rupert Murdochs draconian life

somehow, i tend to think that your definition of 'unknown team' means anyone besides the Skankees, the Dodgers, and the Red Sox.

what a lousy comment. nevermind our over-100 year history and one of the 3 biggest markets in the sport.

it is simply amazing how pissy you guys got when you were eliminated. what a bunch of hypocrites. the world doesn't revolve around you. you guys were BOUNCED. it was beautiful and it was GOOD for the sport, whether you agree or not. next year, maybe we won't be able to smack you around like we did this year, but maybe we will again.

your bitterness betrays your hypocrisy.

unknown team... what a dumbass.

Interesting that you bring up market size, Chitown, because here's a fun fact.

The 3rd and 4th largest markets just played eachother in the World Series.

The result? One of the lowest rated World Series' ever.

Game 1's ratings were down 31% from last years game 1, despite and almost identical storyline to the World Series itself.

Game 1's ratings were up only 1% from that of game 1 of the Angels/Giants series -- which ended up being the lowest rated ever.

If you're team isn't a team of unknowns... why did nobody care to watch them?

How are poor ratings in a World Series sweep a positive for Major League Baseball?

In addition to this... in Colorado, I was hardpressed to find anybody that actually cared who won! That sure as hell wasn't the case last year.

Say what you want about the Red Sox and Yankees, and there fans (to whom you kiss up to -- both sides) -- but the Red Sox and Yankees in primetime, on National TV, no matter how early in the season, are like Tiger Woods leading a Major on Sunday... guarenteed ratings. In other words... people care.

pissy? in case you forgot, I've been predicting a sweep of the Astros by the White Sox, and have really enjoyed watching the Series and the White Sox. Hell I even made a thread about it discussing that I was actually enjoying this series. The comment about them being unknown is that maybe you know them and follow them because they are part of your little world, but to the rest of the country, they are unknown. take a look at the ratings. I didn't disparage the effort of the team, which is something that you are always quick to do with our teams. Do me a favor, next time I speak about baseball, stay out of the discussion because you have zero ability to discuss anything objectively. I thought your overreaction to my Hulk Hogan comment was an anomaly, but I can see it's standard behavior for you.

Good day

so i kiss up to both fans? well, here's a nice kiss-up:

we swept you. we dominated you. we beat you down like your 86 previous years all rolled into one series. we conquered you like Alexander moving through Mayberry. You went home. We sent you there. We won the World Series.

There we go; tit for tat. I have tried unmeasurably to be magnanimous on this board, but there are just some of you begging to be shown REALITY. There are some of you here (BoSox84, One Red Seat, etc) who are really decent people, and I thank you for conversing about the playoffs. You were a joy to have discourse with.

The rest of you are bitter, hypocritical, self-aggrandizing, asses suffering from an exaggerated sense of baseball team self-importance. I have alway enjoyed rooting for the Red Sox and this is no reflection on Red Sox nation- you have an overwhelmingly positive and decent fan base. But the few that spoiled the bunch for me here are just bitter. bitter that you're home for the winter. You have acted just exactly like your hated skankee rival fans. it's amazing to me how some of you could go so terminally assholish within a year of doing something as wonderful as winning your first series in 86 years. I wish the real Red Sox fans well and hope we see you in the playoffs again next year.

To the rest of you that, no matter how decent White Sox fans tried to be to you, were colored by a bitterness that clouded your ability to enjoy the playoffs without your team, I send you my pity. this is for you:

We spanked you like a naughty toddler and sent you to bed without supper. We bounced you like so many basketballs on the floor, and beat you down with dimensions not see in MLB playoffs in quite a while. We went 11-1 and some commentators are calling this White Sox teams one of the best 3 of the last 30-40 years. They're calling us the best pure 'team' to win the Series in quite a while. We're enjoying it and screw your quick-turned-within-a-year arrogant ass attitudes when we tried to enjoy it.

Have a nice, cold winter. If needed, feel free to snuggle up with Cubs, Skankees, and Astros fans for warmth and comfort.

I'm out.

Peace. WORLD CHAMPION CHICAGO WHITE SOX!!!

Posted
Thank you.

feel free to snuggle with him for warmth, loser.

you lost. we won. GET OVER IT.

WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP: NOW RESIDING ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF CHICAGO.

The rest of you arrogant *******s can go straight to hell without supper and a World Series Championship.

???

who are you to talk like this? red sox nation just had to wait 86 years, and the white sox didnt win it all the way in 88 years. get off your high horse and realize its been a year, not 86 years since the last world series win for boston. at least red sox have made it there more times compared to white sox's first visit since 1959

They're calling us the best pure 'team' to win the Series in quite a while.

thats because it happened this year, they said that about the marlins and diamondbacks as well. Red Sox had beaten a curse last year, and did the unthinkable come back, down from 3 games to beat the Yankees, then had swept the heavily favored Cardinals.

The rest of you arrogant *******s can go straight to hell without supper and a World Series Championship.

yeah look at your posts youve done, you are quite the mature one

Just out of curiosity, ChiTownSox. Were you still talking s*** about the Yankees when THEY were winning World Series titles?

Just be glad that I am not as quick as you to generalize and lump all fans in one category, nor do I let my feelings of distate for some fans turn me off to a team. I still like the White Sox, still think they had a really good team. I can only hope that not all White Sox fans are as "mature" as you

Congratulations, your team swept a team that didn't deserve a spot in the playoffs to begin with. I'm not bitter -- I've never once been bitter about how this season ended. Next season, let's see if you can lose your Ace and your closer and repeat.

I noticed you chose not to defend your team, and your teams fanbase, by disputing my ratings point -- or, perhaps it's because you can't come up with an excuse as to why your 'well-known' team played in such a little-watched World Series that even you're dumb enough to believe. Face it, nobody cares about your team -- World Champions or not.

It's funny that you chastise the Yankees and Red Sox fans, on seperate boards of course, as if your teams fanbase has been worth a s***. The day your team's stadium operates above 70% capacity, let alone 98%, or you're team isn't the second most popular in your city -- then you can come back and criticise us.

As for now, enjoy being the 'best team ever' for the next year and don't buy into the hype machine that is ESPN too much.

Are you suggesting I'm not a real Red Sox fan because I don't excuse a poor performance of a season because of what they did last year? That's absolute ********. I've said it all along -- being defending champions was nice, but it did nothing towards winning us games this year. The World Series was great -- but one's never enough. While it's great that you're able to inadvertently admit that your team gets a free pass next year based on having won the World Series -- that's not the case for me, and it's not the case for real fans. As for you... the Cubs are due up next, I believe... so grab your Cubs hat and get ready to jump back onto that bandwagon, next year.

Man on fire, I never heard of the movie.

Whoa, I thought Chicago was the 3rd biggest market in the country?

Posted
What does that have to do with anything?

If I'm not mistaken, Man On Fire finished 1st or 2nd on it's opening weekend.

I was just making a joke about you living in the 3rd biggest market and you've never heard of that 'box office' hit.
