ChiTown, I saw your edit, but I responded before the "this is intended...." part was added, so it certainly appeared as if you were directing it at me. I even empathized in the post above it with..

in response to...

Let's put it behind us. I only offer one piece of advice. Get all your facts straight before you fly off on a rant. Truce?

Truce. Thanks for accepting my apology. Thanks for your understanding.

I read all the posts. But basically, you decided to attack one of two people that you've been been fighting with. You just chose the wrong one ( I'm not sure there is a right one ) The whole initial aurgument was petty to begin with. Howver, ithas some how been escalated to much more than name calling. As a law student, you should know that you must establish your facts first. Personally, I beleive you owe One Red Seat an apology.

I agree with you- I already sent him one. Hopefully, he will accept my apology.

There we go... What I love most.

Anyone think that Houston's offense is a bit scary? To tell you the truth, I'm worried a bit. Then again, I'm a south-sider and we're pessimistic by nature and by our team's history...

I think the bad numbers for them are largely dependent on their wretched first half. Ensberg, Berkman, and Lane all have good pop. Biggio continues what he has done for the last 15 years and the emergence of Burke looks good for them. And don't forget, Bagwell will be a factor as the DH in Chicago.

That said, I don't think they are as imposing as Chicago's well balanced lineup.

I think the key to the series will be how well Clemens and Pettitte can pitch. Both had stellar years, finishing #1 and #2 in ERA, and #3 and #4 in WHIP, but both have already had a rocky outing in the postseason. If they step up, and Oswalt continues to do what he has done in the playoffs, it will be tough for the Sox to take 3 of the games they pitch (I'm figuring Garcia beats Backe).

EDIT: Houston's offensive production increase from the first half to second half was fairly marginal. They increased runs per game from 4.15 to 4.37 and OPS from 0.723 to 0.738. However, their pitching did get substantially better. They improved from a 3.88 team ERA to a 3.09 and the team WHIP improved from 1.28 to 1.17. The combination of the two is what accounts for their dramatic turnaround.

I really think that the pitching from botth teams will dominate. That being said, it will be the ability to manufacture runs that may spell the difference. That would give an edge to the Sox. Also the Sox also have the home field advanatge ( for what that's worth ).

Home field has not exactly been as kind as the road to us... ha. But, this is a NL team now and we lose the DH. For what it's worth, I don't see losing Everett as much of a loss at all. He has been alright in the post-season, but still has terrible at bats at the worst times.

As for Houston's lineup, I think they're really underrated. Berkman, Biggio, Bagwell, and Burke are all having great years and/or post seasons. Houston's pitching doesn't scare me as much as their lineup does, actually. Clemens can be gotten to. If the Sox do what they do best (score first early) and stake their starter to a lead, it'll be hard to beat us. That said, if Clemens can get knocked around for even 2 runs, our starter might be able to work with it. It's a great situation to have such faith in 4 guys like we have. All four have been incredibly dominating, especially in the ALCS.

I'm on pins and needles with the rest of White Sox fans, but I don't make predictions. I have faith we'll be alright in the end.

I think the key for my White Sox is to get a couple runs early, so the starters don't try to get super-fine with their accuracy. That's when they leave balls over the plate. I have a feeling that Iguchi is going to have a big series.

Won't the ratings for this world series be astronomically low? I mean, the White Sox and the Astros? Is this really of any interest to casual fans outside of those two cities?

1 and 1/2 citys.

Did anyone think the game would be 1:15 old and tied 3-3 at the end of the 3rd? I sure didn't. The uncertainty is just part of the game's charm. I love baseball.

im not too thrilled with this game so far...mainly because Rog is out.

But other than that, if i wasnt pulling for any one team in particular I would think that this has been a great game (but since im pulling for Houston I dont feel that way)

The city is actually behind the White Sox. Even some Cub fans are trying to jump on the bandwagon, though they are quickly dismissed, and severely beaten.
