just a one year deal to give some time for our prospects to tweak out what they need to

Soriano signing a one year deal? Where do you get your crack? He's going to be looking to ink a long-term, big-money deal.......and he'll get it from someone. I just hope it isn't us (I don't think it will be, the FO seems intent of doing it with guys from our system, which is fine with me).

i wasn't talking about soriano because he's a FA next year dummy....just any pitchers we get like morris or washburn...duh...and i still think we should go after soriano next year and trade perodia for a bigger hitter

Why do you want to get soriano instead of going with young prospects? It doesn't make sense. sure hes a good player and is really tempting on the market, but pedroia is sooo good defensivly, ive seen him play and its great to watch, you definetly want pedroia at second next season

Are you dense? Your response to that post certainly makes it look like you are talking about a one year contract for Soriano. Sorry if I don't speak dumbass.

exactly Soriano is not the type of player to sign just a 1 season deal (only aging players and backups sign such deals). Soriano will be looking for a multi-year contract when he hits free agency in the 2006 offseason.

You guys realize soriono has no glove at all right? Everyone gets enamered with offense, but defense wins championships. Tony G has plenty of offense, and is exponentially better on defense. I want Tony G back.

wait when did i say soriano should sign a one year deal? I hate soriano on the sox, love him somewhere else, just not here. I know how FA contracts work, and what kind of money/years he will command on the market next year, but hes not even an FA, so why would we talk about signing him for one year anyways? We'd be giving up the next ten years of our future to get him for this season if we did get him, I don't want him for that one season. I'm confused.

Oh, and I also agree with MC, if anyone were to play second next year that wasn't pedroia I would want it to be Tony G, i think Soriano is better for a team that needs offense, but for a team like the sox with Offense coming out of everywhere, we need the kind of all around beastness that is Tony G. Hes good offensivly, and good defensivly. If it isn't pedroia, its him.

If you look at the format of my post, it shows that jimmycarter suggested a one year contract in response to your post about Soriano.
