Here we go, it is now a 5 game season.

Pitching Matchups

Game 1: Clement vs. Contreras

Game 2: Wells vs. Buehrle

Game 3: Schilling vs. Garcia

If needed:

Game 4: Wake vs. Garland

Game 5: Clement vs. Contreras

I'm suggesting that Schilling start game 3 for two reasons. (1) Curt has shown that he can elevate his game when it is a big one. Nothing is bigger than the playoffs. With Thursday being an off day, he will be on normal rest for the game. (2) Game 3's are pivotal in 5 game series, and I would rather have Tek's bat in the lineup.

Game 1 is huge. If we can get a good pitching performance from Matt and knock Contreras around a little (he's had a stellar 2nd half), then we will have some serious momentum when Boomer takes the hill.

I like our chances in less than 4 games, but I have serious doubts about Clement in a winner take all game.

Game 2 is a rematch of a matchup I saw at Fenway this year when the White Sox were in town. Red Sox hammered Buerhle in that game. Ortiz set a career high for RBIs in a game with 6 and he added 2 home runs. Schilling made the game close allowing a couple of HRs to Iguchi and Konerko in the 9th.

I don't think they have a big advantage in game one, the sox kill contreras, i think he'll get lit up, and i am optimistic about clement still.

All Clement has to do is step up and be an AVERAGE pitcher. No sucky starts.

Exactly, if our offense can keep up the pace we had today all he has to do is not let the game get out of hand. I am concerned about their bullpen, Jenks looks pretty good and they a few other guys who are solid.

On the other hand, the "Hawk" says no one will beat the White Sox no matter how good you are!! God I wanna send that frontrunning prick home.

Why do people take what Hawk says so seriously? How do you make through life when Hawk pisses you off everyday? If you don't like him, don't listen to him...it's simple. He's one of the biggest fans of the White Sox, don't hate him because of that. He's actually a really nice guy if you ever met and talked to him. Not only that, but he tells some of the best baseball stories ever. You don't know Hawk, so don't hate him.

I hate him because he's annoying. "PUT IT ON THE BOOOAAAARRRRRRDDD, YES!" That's annoying. He commentates the game in such a biased matter it's not even funny. And, I'm not the only one that hates him. Take a look around.

I personally find him hilarious. Granted I've only seen clips of his games and have never really watched a whole game of him especially against the White Sox. But it really is hard to take a guy that biased serious. Every team's announcer is biased but I think he takes it to a new level.

He always talks about how much better than the other team the White Sox are. It's just annoying. He was saying how he would love to face the Red Sox in the playoffs because the White Sox' defense was better, their offense, their pitching, their (insert here). I mean, I have no doubt he's a good guy, I'm not saying he's an *******, but he doesn't do a very good job at commentating games for fans of the other teams. Giving credit to the other team from time to time wouldn't hurt either.

Hawk isnt really my favorite either...thank god he doesnt do Yankee games any more.

That's ridiculous, he never said the Sox were better than every other team...sounds like a bias against Hawk is what it is.

Hawk is the White Sox commentator...he doesn't work for Fox or ESPN, he works for the White Sox. Why can't he be biased? He isn't meant to be a commentator that the other team enjoys. As a matter of fact, Hawk gets a lot of crap, but there are some REALLY bad one's out there. They all sound the same, they're all boring and hard to listen to. Hawk is at least unique and you can't take that away from him.

Just for the record, the Yankees have one of the worst broadcast teams IMHO.

Hahah, we differ. IMHO, the Yankees announcers are 10x better than WGN, but that's me. The only team I think the White Sox announcers are better than are the Rangers' ones.

But that's me, I KNOW I'm not the only one that strongly dislikes Hawk.

Haha, Hawk is hilarious. I have never watched a white sox game with them, but I think hes funny from what I hear...

YS013 - Why keep DiNardo out, hes been pitching pretty well...

Also I agree with the Hyzdu-DiNardo switch. I see DiNardo becoming in a lot like Arroyo did, he came in and proved to be a great long-relief man in the 2003 post-season. Plus DiNardo was tearing up AAA just like Arroyo was, and both came in from other systems.

This series is not going to be easy. They played pretty evenly in the season series with the BoSox winning it 4-3 while both teams scoring 36 runs. The Pale Hose may have taken the month of September off but they still won the games they needed to.

It will be important for our boys to set the tempo and take game 1 like they did from the Angels last year. Lay a beating on them and let them know who the boss is.

No way we go with only 10 pitchers. Take out Hyzdu or Machado put in Dinardo for a 2nd lefty out of the pen.

How many pitchers are we going to take to the ALDS though? If Im not mistaken we took 10 pitchers last year so I would expect to take the same again this year.

Idk, but don't you think we need more bench players right now for flexibility purposes (plus just in case injuries happen).

I think we need 11 pitchers. Remember the difference in the starting staff of this year and last year.

The problem in Game 1 is Clement. This guy has not had a good second half. He's been hanging his cutter and breaking balls and getting behind in counts with a ton of walks. Tito has to have a quick hook and be ready to bring in Arroyo for possible long relief.
