It isn't looking good for the Sox this season. Not only are the Yankees looking unbeatable (by all MORTAL teams), but Cleveland is playing KC. I'm not sure who to root for, but it seems most realistic to hope the Chi-Sox just completely fall apart to assure the sox of a wildcard spot.

As for the Red Sox, I think they'll keep playing mediocre baseball and unless another team plays horrible baseball the sox may be going home earlier than anyone had hoped. We're looking at injuries (Youkilis, Graffinino) bad--but tested--relief pitching, and potentially good--but untested--relief pitching as well. A manager who says he won't use any of that potentially good pitching in key situations... leaving us with, well, bad relief pitching.

What we need:

Great starting pitching. BIG bats. Many runs. Poor play from our opponents, nearly flawless play in the field and LUCK from teams like KC, TOR, BAL and NY.

A run in the 1st... good start.

Bronson is the Kevin Millar of our pitching staff. He's really not that good, but every once in a while, he has a good enough game to make slow witted people like Francona think he is good.

That's the problem. Bronson has the type of stuff that demands he be a control/location pitcher, but his command is very inconsistent.

Maybe at some point Arroyo will start establishing his breaking pitches, since he's not throwing his fastball by these hitters.

I can't understand the approach at the plate for some of the guys' ABs tonight. Cabrera is wild, but they are hacking at first and second pitches (with a 1-0 count nonetheless). Gotta take advantage here with 2 on, 1-out.

I want you guys to look at some pitches, but Papi, you have to move the lumber on those close ones with 2 strikes. Let's go Manny!

I can't believe DuBose tried to sneak an 87mph FB past Manny on the inner half.

Nice to see a quality start from Bronson. He didn't look good in the first 3 innings. Way to turn it around Arroyo.

Seriously, its some good reachin back. It also might be Baltimore's radar gun, it had Cabrera clocked at 101 earlier and Arroyo has hit 95 at least 3 times this inning.

Maybe Raffy isn't the only thing that's juiced in Baltimore.

Its definatly the gun, there is no way that Arroyo can throw 95, but a great job tonight by Bronson Never the less

If the sox were going to turn their season around (at least this last part of it) there aren't two guys I would expect to be right in the mix of it more than Trot and Arroyo. It seems that Manny and Ortiz always produce. The players that are most important to the sox success are Damon, Tek, and Nixon (recently, too, I should add Graffinino but he's hurt).
