Jerry Rice Retires

The greatest receiver in NFL history is hanging it up. Jerry Rice will announce his retirement at 1:30 p.m. ET, ESPN's Andrea Kremer reports. After being told he was not going to be Denver's No. 3 wideout, Rice opted not to play a 22nd season.

Greatest WR, and in my opinion, player, the NFL has ever seen with a work ethic that was among the best of any athlete in any sport, ever. It'll be sad to see him not play anymore, even if he wasn't as brilliant as he once was. As a 49ers fan, he's always been my favorite athlete.
