[Sox Fan on Cape]

Have any of you members been bothered by the fact that named theads and the discussions contained therein have little relationship. Essentially, it seems that it comes down to : Yankee's suck or Red Sox suck argument, weak analogies to other sports, a beauty contest, or a personal vendetta. Put the thread in the correct forum, discuss and debate the topic of the thread ( don't turn it or hi-jack it ) debate the issue ( logic and statistics would be helpful ) don't let it degrade into a name calling contest. It doesn't really matter whether your a Sox's, Yank's, Pat's, Jet's, etc fan.

 

I've noticed that a large number of our members will log on, stay on for a while, and will not post / contribute. I wonder whether this is because : they don't want to get into the middle of a feud, they've heard the same argument many times before, or they don't want to be ridiculled. I believe that all of you have something to say , information you'd like to get, or something you'd like to learn. I don't think anyone here is God or anything close. But some of you seem to think you are. If someone posted in error, correct them. Please give a source of your information. If you derived it from another site state it. As the membership roll increases there are bound to be some members that just don't belong ( I would suspect the reason for banning ) but not just because you disagree with them. If you're here just to antagonize or incite , maybe you don't belong.

 

This a good site. With your help and contributions, it can be a great site. It can also be a cesspool to dump all your anger, hatred, and bigotry. I'm willing to work to make it a great site ( Sosh, Dirtdogs, etc who ? we're better ) are you ?

 

PS: If you want to dump on me, fine, it can be a very big cesspool.

In all seriousness, you are 100% correct, I think we need to stick to the topic at hand. If everybody made an effort, Yankee fans and Sox fans alike, this could be a great site

Yeah you hit the nail on the head. Perfect example is the thread about Schillings start today. It had about 10 posts that pertained to the topic, and the next 2 pages were talk about the Yankees rotation.

it could be the growing number of yankee fans on this site lately, not that I'm against it. But pretty soon we'll have more yankee fans than sox fans. :what:

This, along with the spelling/grammar crap, is a fight that I have fought for a long time. So long as people have a computer screen and a keyboard to hide behind, they will say whatever needs to be said to get a rise out of someone. If the problem persists, something will definitely be done about it.

Yeah, it's starting to get bad, and i try not to get into it, even though i tend to get into arguements easily. Only thing that bothers me is the extreme amount of yankee fans on here. I am starting to feel like i am visiting a yankee forum, and it's annoying.

yeah, but so far, none I've seen so far are trolls. They're Not here to say "red sox suck" in every post. You can't ban a bunch just because they're yankee fans.

If that was a new banning policy, a lot of sox fans would be banned too.

We're not changing thread topics. Tends to be that we'll criticize the Sox in one way or another, in compliance with the thread. Then a Sox fan will respond with, yeah well the Yankees are worse at 'insert topic'. That gets annoying and stupid.

Yea, I must admit I have a problem with getting offtopic fast, like(in the Schilling one) people were talking about how Schilling was doing in his newest start, and I started talking about Willis Reed. And I'll admit that was stupid, same with the into thread of mine, I dragged that on too long. I'll try really hard to understand the topic and stick to it. I also think thats the reason a lotta threads drag on. Some onw will start a thread, I'll go to eat lunch, get back and its already 4 pages long. Though I don't mind reading, I thin it can be a hassle for some. SO I apologize for my mistakes my first day, and I'll straighten up my posting.
