im surprised by this because he has been doing quite well for them.

The San Diego Padres designated reliever Paul Quantrill for assignment and recalled third baseman Sean Burroughs from Class AAA Portland of the Pacific Coast League on Wednesday. Quantrill, 36, made 22 relief appearances for the Padres after being acquired from the New York Yankees on July 2 and went 1-1 with a 3.41 ERA. He was 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA in 22 games for the Yankees, allowing opponents to bat .383 against him.

The Padres have 10 days to trade or release Quantrill. A 14-year veteran, Quantrill has also pitched for Boston (1992-94), Philadelphia (1994-95), Toronto (1996-2001), the Los Angeles Dodgers (2002-03), the Yankees (2004-05) and the Padres (2005) and owns a career record of 68-77 with a 3.81 ERA in 835 games.

No one, he's trash, no one will take him on. Teams that will make the playoffs are already getitng thier roster set, teams that are on the bubble don't want him for obvious reasons, and the teams that are crap are dumping older players not adding them.
