anyone we can get off waivers, I heard looper cleared. because both our starting rotation and the bullpen need some serious help at this point.

Most teams put a shitload of players on waivers just to see who clears. The Mets are contending. 1.5 out of the WC at the beginnng of play today. So, I doubt they will be dealing their closer.

Any help we get will most likely have to be internal. Here are my ideas:

1. Put Papelbon in the rotation not the bullpen. He appears to throw a little harder and have better stuff on more rest. If you are struggling with command (he's missing the corners either way off the plate for balls or right over the middle of it) it is better to have the extra gas.

2. Use Arroyo out of the bullpen. Last year's postseason and several of his starts/relief appearances this year have shown that Bronson is much better the first time through the order. I know this is true for most pitchers, but he just seems to provide a higher percentage of quality appearances when he's pitching middle relief.

3. Call up Hansen. Yesterday. What we have right now bridging to the setup man and closer isn't working. So here's a thought. TRY SOMETHING ELSE. He's not going to save the day, but he can't be any worse. Even if he struggles there is a positive aspect. He'll be cutting his teeth on big league pitchers, not wasting time blowing away minor league talent.

Honestly at this point we just gotta be patient. The pitching will come around it's just a matter of when and then the question is will the bats still be there.

patience is not a strategy. It's a death wish.

ask bush...stay the course, is asinine when the course is wrong.

It's almost september when are you supposed to become impatient in October while watching other teams in the playoffs. while you screw balls sit around and s*** on the yankees and start polls about the wild card as though we have the divison all wrapped up.

we are now 1.5 games ahead having just come off losing a series to the royals. the royals.the royals.

what does it take to create a ripple of concern with you people.

Igornance is bliss I know, but come on--your solution is patience..?

I dont have a solution to offer...but patience doesnt seem like a very good strategy to me. i dont have a magical answer tho, i guess if i did, i'd be the manager instead of terry.....

First, let's not compare a pitching rotation to military tactics. Secondly, look at our hated rivals for proof. Yeah, they've added some faces and what not since the start of the season, but they kept optimistic and it has paid off. They didn't bail on Johnson or Wright, and now they're pitching much better and the Yanks are back in it. It's too late to really change our pitchers, so we just have to be optimistic that they'll get their acts together with time to spare.

I watch looper alot. You don't want him. He is the worst closer in baseball. There's some closers who are good but choke in a big spot.(Jose Mesa) Then there's some who suck, and choke in a big spot.(Looper) It's basically come down to, this team needs 7 runs to win games, but the offense is more than capapble of doing that.

For some reason this reminds me of the Suns season last year. Everybody said their style of play would not work in the playoffs. Now everybody's saying that just a good offense isn't going to work in the playoffs. Remains to be seen.

You guys don't root for the White Sox, don't confuse the colors. Your pitching problems aren't that big of a deal because of the kind of offense you have, probably the most potent in the AL if not the majors. The RS were down by what, 5 runs in the 2nd inning last night and they came back. If another team, such as the White Sox, had your pitching problems they'd be in a much bigger mess.

Clement has started to look like his first half ace self, in his last 6 starts he is 2-0 with a 3.60 ERA--Because lets face it his slider is starting to stay more in the strike zone then away, in his last 4 starts has given up just 6 earned runs. Tim Wakefield will still be consistent in being a bull and give the Sox long innings of work. Mike Myers, Chad Bradford and Mike Timlin have been the best relievers of the pen this season
