Stern made his debut a little while ago, but is already looking great. Today he made a diving catch, and almost made another great one. probably webgems. What do you think about Stern?

yeah his play in the first inning was the #2 web gem on BBTN.....someone on this board said that we should send him down, he is a rookie, and I'm expecting good things from him in the future....he has an above average arm and defense, and with experience his baserunning will improve, and his hitting will come around as soon as he sees some more pitches.

Some idiot on the radio today was saying Stern was going to get sent down for someone else to get called up. STERN CAN'T GET SENT DOWN. He's a rule 5 pick up, if we don't keep him up with the club he goes back to the Braves or where ever we got him from. How can you host a radio show and not know simple rules like that.

Sox would be stupid to just let him go like that--i mean he showed his defense skills like diving for the catch in front of the bullpens, hitting the wall by catching a foul ball, then showed his strong arm almsot having a chance to throw out runner at 2nd after diving for a ball, has great baserunning just needs more experience, can hit as seen in his monster shot againt the white sox last month

I'm a fan of Adam Stern. Sure, he's struggled offensively, but it's a VERY difficult task to play as infrequently as he does, and if you'll notice, VERY few players succeed without a lot of playing time. He's shown already a great glove, a solid arm, and speed on the basepaths. Like any rookie, he's made some mistakes that show his inexperience, and isn't as good as Dave Roberts in the basestealing department, but I think he's a great player to have on the team. He adds an element that this team lacks: Speed.

I think he'll only get better with regard to hitting and baserunning skills, and he's already very good in the field. If Johnny Damon doesn't resign, I expect him to get a long look in Spring Training. The organization is very high on Adam Stern, which usually means he'll get more than enough chances to prove himself (see Millar, Bellhorn, etc).

I love Adam Stern. He's definitely one of my favorites. He tries so hard and you can tell he's got great talent. With some playing time, he'll just get better and better. I'm glad the Sox are so high on him.

He should definately take playing time away from your loverboy Millar.

My what now? Millar isn't one of my favorites. What ARE you talking about?

I'm still in shock from your "not that bad" comment. Millar is horrendous.

Oh I'm sorry. I don't think he's horrendous. But obviously, if given a choice, I'd much rather see Stern get the playing time and the at bats rather than have Millar in RF. Stern had a hit his first time up yesterday and he might've done well, if the game hadn't been called.
