Very good point by Ray. For all those saying Renteria sucks, lets compare Edgars numbers to O-Cabs.

Edgar: Avg: .278 Hr: 6 RBI: 40 Runs Scored: 65 OBP: .344

Orlando: Avg: .249 Hr: 5 RBI: 32 Runs Scored: 37 OBP .302

Edgar beats Cabby in every statistical category, ut the real important numbers here to look at are average, runs scored, and OBP. Edgar kills Cabby in those categorys, so if you get sick of him just look at what the alternative could have been.

Keeping O-Cab was never really an option for the Sox. Renteria wasan is a much better overall player.

Yeah keep comparing those numbers, cuz it's easy when Cabrera doesnt have a 35 foot wall to aim at. You can't compare his numbers unless he's playing for Cleveland at the Jake. Why do you think Millar's numbers are even decent. THAT BIG GREEN WALL. So stop comparing Edgar's AVG to Cabrera's unless you figure out some method to devise what Cabrera's AVG would be if he had a wall to hit at.

Ok buddy, Edgar is hitting there Cabby is hitting where he is. You have to take what you have and roll with it. Really that is the dumbest arguement I've heard in a long time. And I didn't just use average moron, OBP, RBI, runs scored, he beats Cabby in EVERY CATEGORY.

That really IS the weakest argument... what is it, if you don't want to blame the player, blame the field they are playing on? I understand a player is somewhat a product of their environment, but i think you're stretching it a bit far here...

Are you both stupid? Even Wade Boggs has admitted that Fenway helped him to build the Hall of Fame career he had. And you want to go to other stats too, fine. Since Guerrero's been back I'll bet Cabrera has been driven in more. Why do you think Edgar has? Ahh, could it be because he has David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez batting after him. Ahh, I think so. Put him in front of Mueller and Cora and see how many times he crosses the plate. Edgar has just one more HR, granted a few more RBIs, but here's so more food for thought. Pretty much 3.5 out of 10 times Edgar has a guy on base in front of him, Cabrera? 2.85 out of 10. For only 9 extra RBIs, the math is probably similar. OC has more steals, and been caught less. His fielding % is better. All this including the fact he's played in 14 less games. Or better yet, let's take a peek at OC's numbers in Boston, which was in about 40 less games. 6 HRs (equal). 19 doubles* wonder why (1 less). 60 less TBs, but in 40 games difference, you do the math. .465 SLG %, way better than Edgar. .294 AVG, better than Edgars .277. 4 SBs half of Edgar's 8. 23 Ks well below Edgar's 65, even his total of 31 this year is. 31 RBI, jsut 11 short of Edgar.

Sure, it's helped. But you can't attribute all the success just to that wall! Maybe you are just looking for any reason to bash Edgar...

STOP WITH THE RENTERIA bashing please. It doesn't help anyone :( We are a first place team, and EVERYTHING is working out. WHY do you all question EVERY SINGLE THING about Renteria? The man is contributing to the Sox, a lot more than Blowhorn, Millar, Olerud, and some others to the team. If you wanna talk about how much a player sucks, talk about Millar or Blowhorn. Renteria should be one of the last people you end up bashing.

Actually if you weren't a bandwagon, fair weather fan you would know that if he were to hit in front of Bill Mueller he would get driven in as many times if not more than he is now. Bill Mueller has .351 average with RISP so theoretically in your words if Edgar were to hit in front of Mueller we would "see him cross the plate" as many times if not more.

Actually yes I would like to go to other stats. Wait nevermind I'll go to the stat you brought up.

"Since Guerro's been back I'll bet Cabrera has been driven in more.". Wrong again stupid. Sine Vlad Gurerro came back off the DL (He came back on June 10th) Orlando Cabrera has been driven in 15 times. How many times do you think Renteria has been driven in since then? Less you say? How about 44 runs scored for Renteria since then. That's right thats a 29 run difference in EDGAR'S favor.

Check your s*** before you come on to a board and post something. And please don't go to jail anytime soon. I don't want you being any one else's bitch.

dude how about this f***ing stat to shut you the hell up, edgar is .467 batting average with the bases loaded, thats right 7 hits in 15 at bats including a grand slam in yankee stadium and altogether 17 RBIs with the bases loaded

Edgar gets on base more, has a better average, drives in more runs, hits more homers, scored more times. Edgar is a huge upgrade over Edgar.

Thanx for shutting this idiot down. I am getting really tired of hearing posts with him bashing Edgar just to bash him. I'm no stats expert, and I'll never claim to be, but I like Renteria and 22 errors don't mean s*** if you can do what he does when it matters out on that field. Maybe we should let him know that somebody made a thread just to bash Edgar....he can go there...

Oh and if you were a true fan you might be unhappy with a player but all this shittalking is highly unneccesary...every player on the team got us to where we are....wait where was that again? OH YEAH...FIRST PLACE! So quit your bitching. *Thanx*

Alright, I'll let it die for now, but we'll see if he was really worth it come October. Miguel Tejada is a great shortstop from April to September, but when October comes around, he chokes.

He jsut realized he got verbally beat down "I'll let it die" is code for "I surrender".

Either way..I'm glad I don't have to read it anymore... ;)

i never surrender never have never will, but we are beatin a dead horse at this point. and unless edgar makes the decisive error, i wont blame him for a postseason failure, but i'll still bet he isnt the reason for a success.
