I have to admit I didn't think he'd last the season. His spring was awful, but a big guy like him seems to be pacing himself and is getting better. I believe he is the team's game 1 starter in any playoff series.

Since this thread was started by a MFY fan, it should be noted that Pavano pitched last night in Tampa and didn't impress, giving up 3 runs in a FSL game.

FSL? Frontier League?

I have actually been surprised by Boomer he started off horrible but has bounced back the last little while. Hopefully he can do what he is doing as of right now in the playoffs.

You're making a bit of a premature prediction aren't ya Ray? As of right now the AL East isn't going to get the Wildcard slot.

Wells isn't on the Yankees anymore, guy.

I wonder what The Yankee Republik's thoughts of Embree are so far.

What??! That made no sense. Unless you mean Wells gets traded to the A's which is the wildcard leader, or he gets traded to the yankees which could become the wildcard leader

I'm well aware of that HE.

What I was referring to was Ray10's assumption here that the Sox are a lock to make the playoffs.

I think it's a bit premature to think that, that's all. Especially the way Arroyo has pitched tonight..Lol.

Follow me now Papi? Sorry for the confusion.

probably wondering what the hell Brian Cashman was thinking

I don't think it's completely Cashman's fault. He has the title of GM, but at times he has little say with the Yankees - there's the Tampa faction, and then Steinbrenner. Not to mention there was a lot of risk in signing Wells, even though he wanted come, he's not always in the best of shape. If we didn't even try to sign some younger pitching, the team would've gotten older, which is what everyone taunts the Yankees about. Didn't know at the time how long Wright and Pavano would've been out, or how rough their adjustment to the AL has been.

And half of the pitchers now on the roster were acquired after the offseason, since uhh, can't catch a frickin' break here!

Republic with a 'k'. If only the Yankee pitchers could find the strikezone...not to name any names, but AL LEITER!

Embree should buy Rodriguez and Giambi dinner. Before he gets DFA'd, should he continue to blow it. I only trust him with a five-run lead. But wait, Torre will plug in TanGor regardless of the situation because they belong to the Torre's Crew. Which will render them useless come postseason time (is that too presumptous of me? oh well). <_>

Good pitching; bad offense. Good offense; bad pitching. Story of the 2005 New York Yankees. :dunno:

That phrase needs to die, TanGor <_>

Isn't that the second time you've mentioned that? I think Michael Kay coined the expression. TanGorTanGo...lalala. If the Yankees are lucky, we'll see Mo. ;)

How to add F-Rod into BP mnemonic strategy? That remains to be seen, hello 5.00 ERA if Torre doesn't get the guy some work.

If Quantrill was still here, it'd be QuanTanGorMo? Politics aside.

What's the requirements to join that club? It's probably, "Must have been shelled by the Red Sox."

Checking to see if F-Rod's been kidnapped... 5.2 IP since coming off the DL, I guess Torre just wants to prove Wedsel's theory. Yes, he's a walk machine, but that's not going to change unless he gets work. Why, EMBREE, is seeing more time than Rodriguez, is there some dark secret Yankee fans are not aware about?

Boomer, be grateful you are in Boston, but I'm sure you already are. Lunching with your new pals. Seventh inning stench is so bad here, it makes one quite nauseous. HennGorMay? No thanks.

AWW TANYON! :(

Ouch. Torre's brutal with that bullpen.

Wake up Stevece! As much as I'd like to see them in the playoffs there's still a long 2 months left in the regular season and if they continue to play the way they have recently it won't be long before they're out of first place and out of the wild card.

I personally don't feel this team is as good now as last years team was, especially with the loss of Trot Nixon. We'll see what happens.

Posted
Hes brutal with the pen??....what would you like him to do, leave the starter whose getting shelled in the game so he can give up even more runs?
Posted
So if they continue to win games at an 80 percent clip, they won't make the playoffs. Oh-kay.

If you think they have the slightest chance of doing that then you're far less bright that I originally thought.

I'm a Sox fan, but I'm also a realist and don't have my head shoved up my ass so far that I can't make a rational statement, which is alot more than what I can say for a few people here.

was that before or after their recent 8 game winning streak was snapped you came to this decision, hmm

And Riversideslugger I made that decision in the beginning of the season when there was no Pedro / Schilling pitching 1 & 2 in the rotation. Hmmm...Pedro gone, last year 227K's, 2003 206K's, that's an awful lot more outs you're putting into the hands of your fielders. That's also not accounting for Schilling's 203K's last year! Still wondering why the defense looks like the bad news bears at times this season?

when did the errors start to happen most recently? playing at the metrodome where just about always play their worst baseball there. excluding timlin and rent, errors have been made by cora who just played his first game ever in the hot spot known as 3rd base, Petagine who hasnt played in a big league game since '98, and then there is Mueller who's now been confirmed being hurt--before this came up the sox went 7 straight games errorless and can be able to do it again

I wouldn't go giving Petagine a free pass. First base in AAA and Japan is just like first base in the bigs. Catching a ground ball is catching a ground ball, and being able to locate a pop up is being able to locate a pop up, theres no difference.

I'll give Cora a pass because he was playing a new position though.

every team has their bad fluke of errors as we saw this past wknd, i really dont think clusters of errors will be a continuing trend--dude you calm the "expletive" down, god enjoy the Sox being in 1st place 3 1/2 games ahead of the Yankees who wont even make October now that Johnson could be headed to the DL with lineup probably being Mussina, Leiter, Chacon, Small, and Hideo Nomo--Curt is coming back and is in fact finding his groove---the Sox are best offensive team in the American League at tops with 620 runs, and are 1st in batting average at .285---Well if you're a realist you'll agree that everyone was still pegging at this moment last season Sox's mere chances of seeing late October, as well as all of Sox Nation about to turn off their tvs while yankee fans starting to celebrate when the 4th game of the playoffs started--In baseball anything can happen so dont count out the Red Sox, 51 games have yet to be played...
