Jesus Christ, yankees_rule13, do you honestly think I can't spell? Thanks for pointing out the mistake, but I plan on going into a career in journalism and I currently write for the school paper. I believe I know how to spell.

Just wondering if this weekend rings any bells for you Red Sox fans:

July 14th, 2005: Yankees win 8-6

heading was: A-Rod, Mo provide closure

To jog your memory: Alex Rodriguez drilled a two-run home run to center in the ninth to give the Yankees a thrilling comeback victory over the Red Sox on Thursday. Mariano Rivera struck out all three batters he faced to notch his 21st straight save.

July 16th, 2005: Yankees win 7-4

Heading was: Six-run third paves way

To jog your memory: Alex Rodriguez got things going with a two-run homer in the third inning, and then Bernie Williams, John Flaherty and Derek Jeter each notched RBIs in New York's six-run frame. Randy Johnson allowed four runs and fanned 10 over 6 1/3 innings of work.

July 17th, 2005: Yankees win 5-3

Heading Was: Leiter dazzles in debut

To Jog your memory: Al Leiter allowed one run on three hits and struck out eight over 6 1/3 innings in his Yankees debut as the Bombers won three of four from the Red Sox. Jorge Posada and Gary Sheffield hit two-run homers while Alex Rodriguez added a solo shot to aid the cause.

Looks like you Red Sux couldn't handle Alex Rodriguez and the rest of the team in that series. Aweee too bad huh?

Thinking about it, yankees_rule13... what do you want? A picture of any scoreboard from a Yankees/D-Rays game? Because I do not have one if you are looking for that.

Acually I want the scoreboard from when the Yankees beat the Red Sox for three out of four games the July 14th weekend!

Congrats. You have won two series against us. We have won two series against you. And what does it matter that you FINALLY beat DADDY when you went 5-6 over the next eleven games?

Wow, classy lady. How's the trailer park treating you?

You know its one thing to bash the Yankees and going back and forth over baseball but its another to trash me and my life. This just proves that Boston fans really are *******s.

No it doesn't. You have shown no respect in here at all. Why shouldn't we return the favor?

Looks like you can't handle being behind the Red Sox in the standings?

And I was. I gave my opinion about the Manny to the Mets deal. I don't even know how it got into all of this but this is getting ridiculous.

I can understand people like 26 to 6 being here because atleast he can have a conversation with us and not just start bashing the Sox.

You do realize this is a topic about Manny being traded, not you're Yankees. Why is it that Yankee fans think the world revolves around them?

I request a ban smilie.

Why not just do what Yankees always do: when you don't get your own way and everything isn't going just as you like it - BUY THE FORUM!

:banned:

Much appreciated. I've seen it in a another topic but it wasn't on the list of smilies.

I was also hinting at a possible banning of a certain somebody. Since you filled my first request so fast how about the second? :D

And p.s that scoreboard was from how long ago? Why don't we take some of the scores from the most recent Yankee-Red Sox series when A-Rod hit that game winning homerun?

i just find it so funny that he mentions the last wknd series, with no mentione whatsoever of the 17-1 blowout Sox handed the Yanks, the second such game Sox beat them with that score this season ;)

Deadline deal looks unlikely

Saturday began with a whirlwind of rumors regarding the Manny Ramirez trade, and ended with Ramirez being scratched from the lineup amid talk he had played his last game in a Red Sox uniform. This morning, Ramirez is still a member of the Red Sox, and indications are he’ll still be a member of the Red Sox when the 4 p.m. trade deadline passes. But you never know, stranger things have happened. Here’s a recap of the latest rumblings:

From the Globe's Gordon Edes: “A three-way deal that would have sent Ramirez to the Mets collapsed yesterday afternoon, but the Sox continued negotiations separately with the Mets for Ramirez. ... Disagreement (with the Devil Rays) over the prospects in the trade, and monetary issues, could not be overcome (in the potential three-way deal). The Sox and Mets then dealt one-on-one regarding Ramirez, but according to major league sources, neither team was optimistic a deal could be struck before today's 4 p.m. deadline. ''I think we'll just wait and see," Greg Genske (Manny’s agent) said. ''It could be a long night." Under terms of the proposed deal, the Sox would receive the righthanded hitting Cameron and the highly regarded Milledge, a 20-year-old outfielder and No. 12 overall pick in 2003, for Ramirez, with the Mets apparently prepared to absorb most, if not all, of Ramirez's contract. 'We will not make a bad trade,’ one Red Sox source directly involved in negotiations said yesterday, a signal that the Sox did not believe they were getting enough in return for Ramirez.”

From ESPN.com’s Jayson Stark: “Late Saturday night, a source involved in the Ramirez discussions pronounced the Ramirez trade -- or trades -- to be ‘99.9 percent dead.’”

Along with the trade rumors, there was also controversy over whether Ramirez asked to be benched for the second time in less than a week, or whether it was Terry Francona’s decision to sit Ramirez. Here’s a rundown:

From Edes: “Francona said the lateness of his decision to sit Ramirez stemmed from a lack of ‘privacy’ in the Sox clubhouse once the media are allowed in, which is why he didn't meet with Ramirez, he said, until after the clubhouse closed again at 6:20 p.m. Francona, who originally had Ramirez batting cleanup and playing left field on the lineup card posted in the clubhouse, denied that Ramirez had come to him a half-hour before the game and asked to be taken out of the lineup, then 15 minutes later said he wanted to play, a version of events provided by a source who had spoken to high-ranking club officials.

From the Providence Journal’s Sean McAdam: “According to sources familiar with the situation, Ramirez told manager Terry Francona 30 minutes before gametime that he wasn't going to play, only to return 20 minutes later with a change of heart, offering to once again be put in the lineup. By then, however, the Red Sox manager wasn't about to accommodate him and stuck with a lineup that was without Ramirez. Kevin Millar took over in left field for the night, with John Olerud inserted at first base.”

The Red Sox and Rangers reportedly discussed a deal that would have sent Manny Ramirez to Texas for a package including Alfonso Soriano and Adrian Gonzalez.

It doesn't sound like the discussions went very far, however. The Red Sox also reportedly tried to ship Ramirez to Florida for A.J. Burnett, but were told they'd have to take Mike Lowell and his salary as well.

.

I don't understand the Rangers. It's obvious that they're an offensive powerhouse who are in desperate need of pitching. But all these rumors involving them are about them getting even more hitting. It makes no sense.

We probably would have added Papelbon or Lester. But this would be a good trade regardless.
