Wow I just woke up and turned on ESPN and last night the Toronto Blue Jays faced off against the LA Angels and it took 18 innings to end the game, with Toronto getting the win. And I thought our October playoffs seemed to drag on forever haha. Believe it or not longest game in history took place at the Pawtucket Sox, which had taken 26 innings.

Their pitching gave up 3 runs, only 2 of them earned, in 36 innings against the Angels. With their arms, and Halladay returning, they could pull a Oakland/Houston in a heartbeat.

I want to see a red sox game go that long, but i doubt they could pull that off cause the bullpen would give it up around the 11th. It seemed like last year the red sox had an extra inning game every week or something.

Didn't we have 2 18 inning games in one season, either last year or two years ago? I remember Shea Hillenbrand winning one, and then I think we lost one at Texas or something?

I think that was 2002. I watched all the games in 2003 and last year, and don't rmemeber any 18 inning games. Wasn't the first one of 2003 16 innings and Millar won it in TB? I do remember hearing of a Hillenbrand walk off a few years ago at fenway against the blue jays i think

Well that's good for the Yankees, seeing as the Angels come to the Bronx today with some tired BP arms.

Yup, tough break, but we sure need it. It's pretty much over when that BP comes in...actually, we suck when trailing by late innings anyways, but more to the point. I heard they had to call up AAA for some pitching for this series.

Joel Peralta and Esteban Yan ate up most of those innings. KRod threw 1 inning. Shields threw 1/3.
