Yeah, Yanks did pursue, but the Reds tried to dump the colossal salary on the one team in baseball that they thought was stupid enough to bite, and surprise surprise! - Yankees did not want to pick it up. So the Reds shot it down.

Three more days...sounds like it's coming down to the wire. Anyone that's DFA'd/on waivers, no prospects, that's what they're looking at - mainly a pitcher first and then CF - I wouldn't be surpirsed if they didn't make an acquisition in that area.

DBacks designated Jose Cruz Jr. for assignment. Maybe if no deal is made, he could be added to play CF. I remember when he was with Toronto how coveted he was by so many teams and all the projections made about him. I still think he could be a productive bat and play pretty good defense, and obviously provde a better arm than Bernie. Also he wouldnt block Melky in the years to come as Griffey MIGHT, and Damon would (if we got him in the offseason). Just something to think about, i personally dont want him, but wouldnt mind if we got him....im still in favor of Griffey

Maybe no trade will be made at all...

Prospect is on deck for center

And some more tidbits as to Winn not being the answer:

"I am not convinced the Yankees are sold on Winn in center field," said an executive who speaks regularly with Yankees GM Brian Cashman.

A Yankees official was more definitive: "We don't consider Winn a good center fielder."

Because the Yanks may strike out externally on a center fielder, they have moved Kevin Thompson to center at Columbus to see if he is a better option down the stretch than Crosby. Stump Merrill and Gene Michael, among others, have said they do not think Thompson can play center in the majors. But Yankees minor league head Mark Newman asked Columbus manager Bucky Dent to let Thompson play center every day to make a final determination. Melky Cabrera was moved to left field to accommodate Thompson
