Kazmir entered Friday's game with a 2.66 ERA and 16 strikeouts in his last three starts, but he lasted only three innings against Detroit. The rookie allowed five runs on five hits in the 7-3 loss, including four in the first inning. Kazmir, who leads the American League in walks with 56, allowed four bases on balls against the Tigers.

The right-handed Miller hasn't tasted victory since May 31, when he beat the Orioles at Fenway Park. This is Miller's first career appearance against the Devil Rays. Miller has pitched far better at home (2-0, 3.96 ERA) than on the road (0-3, 6.25 ERA). For whatever reason, Miller has had a hard time getting started, producing a 10.50 ERA in the first inning.

If I remember correctly, we have never been good against Kazmir. Miller has been bad lately. I dont have a good feeling about tonight, but we need to sweep this series, it IS necessary. No reason to lose games to teams like Tampa, especially when you are playing bad baseball..

I agree, but Kazmir can't dominate all game long, so if we can stay close until their bullpen gets in we'll be fine.

Way to replace the .215 hitting Bellhorn with the .199 hitting Cora... I'm in the camp for giving Hanley or Pedroia a shot during the next couple weeks to see what they have....

I really don't understand Francona at all. Cora is .199, Youk was ripping it up in his few appearances. Yet we send Youk down and keep Cora with the team. Package Cora and Blowhorn, and let Youk start at 2B if Mueller doesn't wanna move. Youk is younger, make him apply to a different position. The more I think of it, Youk could be one of those rare 2B that help the team.

Anywho, about tonight's game. It's time we get back on track. I'm sick of this s***. The Yanks are back, Leiter shut us down yesterday, their pitching is back as well, and has the potential to be devastating. I don't wanna see the Yanks ahead of us come October, and we need to light a fire under our asses now. Get out there, slaughter TB, and f***ing go on a streak.

Couldn't agree more.... Youk deserves a chance, give him more grounders during practice and get him ready to play some 2B and get AB's.... He's already proved he is capable or playing and hitting big league pitching...

Anyway, Miller starts off with a K instead of 5 straight balls, and now Crawford is down 0-2. Nice breaking ball there...

Just me or does Miller look a bit more comfortable out there tonight?

I dont really think anyone would have any interest in 2 players that do the same thing.

I actually get to see the game tonight due to Comcast's free Extra Innings. Excited to see Wade on the hill, as it will only be the 2nd time I've seen him this year. It'd be nice to see him get established early and make this game something to build on in the future.

Like said above we must sweep this series.

I am not really liking the way this game is going so far. Leaving runners on. Inconsistent pitching. Doesnt add up to a win. We need the hitting to pick it up and win it for us tonight.
