he's doing better (BA) than only Bellhorn and Cora, who has some understandable adjusting to do. i just dont know where he'd fit into our lineup

if deal did go down with, best way I could think up would be

first base- John Olerud with Lowell as backup if Lowell does not make great debut in red sox uniform

second base- Tony G, bellhorn and cora as backups

third base- kevin youkils, lowell serving as a backup again if not able to make impression

if this trade happens that would mean in matter of several weeks would have lost ramon vazquez, jay payton, alan embree, bronson arroyo, kevin millar, and bill mueller--in return for alex cora, adam hyzdu, adam stern, chad bradford, aj burnett, jc romero, and mike lowell--thats a big change for everybody

Millar realized his butt was on the line and he stepped it up...?

I was rooting for you all along Kevin!! keep it going

i also have been pushing for Millar all along. I dont think anyone on the sox can help pump up the team and push them as much as millar. Personally i believe he is bringing it around now. I say hold on to him

Kevin Millar is not getting too worked up about finding his name included in pre-trading deadline stories.

When teammates strolled into the clubhouse yesterday, Millar yelled to them, ``I'm going to Minnesota. For Joe Mays, J.C. Romero. Me and Bill Mueller [stats, news],'' before explaining to reporters how little stock he places in these types of stories.

``That's just hearsay,'' said Millar. ``From the time I've been in this game, if you've heard about a trade, it's not going to happen. Most of the time by the time the media gets it, or ESPN gets it, it seems like it never goes on. Trades that happen, you show up one day and you're gone."

Millar said he planned to stick to the game of baseball, not the business of it.

``We trust in Theo (Epstein, the Sox general manager), that Theo does the right thing - Theo's not stupid,'' said Millar. ``He knows how to run a team, he knows how special this is but there's things you need to upgrade and what those are, that's not our job.

``Players play. That's their job, that's the business side of the game.''

Besides, getting your name in the papers in this instance is not an insult - usually.

``That means you're somewhat of a good player because somebody's asking about you,'' said Millar. ``Either you're terrible or you can help a team out, so you take it however you want to do it. I just go with the flow, you know.''

Terry Francona said he and Epstein spoke three or four times yesterday but that the subject of trades did not come up.

The Red Sox remain interested in Florida right-hander A.J. Burnett but continue to have little interest in dealing away a top prospect and Bronson Arroyo for him. The Red Sox may have to get the prospects from another club involved in a Marlins deal for it to work but the Orioles remain the likeliest destination for Burnett.
