While most Pettitte-watchers were eyeing Houston on Tuesday, where the Yankees' free-agent left-hander was meeting with Astros' GM Gary Hunsicker, the most intriguing news came from Boston. Randy Hendricks, one of Pettitte's agents, told the N.Y. Daily News the Red Sox have inquired about Pettitte and "are very interested."

Also, Peter Gammons is hearing that Escobar is expected to make a quick signing decision. Anaheim, Boston and Philadelphia are among the teams in the bidding, but the Angels may be the leader at this point. The Blue Jays had hoped to re-sign Escobar and even have a two-year deal for $10 million still on the table. But Tuesday the team signed Pat Hentgen and acquired Ted Lilly, all but sealing Escobar's departure.

This sounds like it's from the 2003 offseason.

If he wants to play with a 5th or 3rd place team over the sox, more power to him. He can be a loser if he wants. :)
