-Apparently the Royals still have a baseball team.

-ClementRulez30 is actually YANKEESRULE just trying to be accepted.

-I guess the Brew Crew still play baseball too.

-You can be 6th in your team in RBIs, bat bellow .300 and have a ROOKIE on your team named Wang preforming better than you and can still qualify as captain of the New York Yankees. Sign me up.

Anything else?

YEAH...

Did anyone see todays ESPN's daily sports shows (PTI, Sportscenter)

They were making a HUGE deal that the Yankees are struggling...Why the media attention (so much of it) for a 4th place team???

Who knows why the Yankees get so much attention when they suck. Don't talk about the Yankees losing, talk about the Orioles at the top of the division or something.

I agree. I read a few select websites every day (mlb.com, espn.com), and they not only made a huge deal about the Yankees struggling, but also when the Yankees won 3 in a row it was the headline on espn.com. Of course, it was the headline every day until their streak was broken.

A few weeks later, the Cardinals rattled off a similar streak (I think 10 in a row), but it still took the back stage to whatever the Yankees or Red Sox were doing.

As a Red Sox fan, it doesn't necessarily bother me because I like reading about the Red Sox and Yankees, but as a BASEBALL fan, it really makes me mad that great teams like St. Louis and great rivalries like LA/SF don't get the media coverage they deserve from these (supposedly) neutral media sources.

Exactly. I'm seeing more and more baseball fans treat the sox as the new yankees. It used to be that the sox got next to no coverage on the major networks, but now it seems like its constant 24/7 spewing of the same facts and garbage over and over. I certainly don't want Boston to become the new New York. :(

But it is somewhat understandable that New York is getting so much coverage while they struggle. Blah blah blah payroll stuff, but they're also the largest baseball market in the country. Apologies to Kansas City, Arizona, San Diego and the like, but it just makes sense. :dunno:

Although we have a huge fan base, the attention we are getting right now has been brought upon ourselves. Damon and Theo wanting me to visit Dunkin Donuts, the whole team urging me to watch them on BRAVO, Ortiz telling me that Comcast is the way to go, when does it end?

How do you know that clement thing?

Yeah, I am speaking sarcastically. But think about it... YANKEESRULE has been gone for a while and so maybe if he comes back with a whole new identity as a Sox fan he'll be accepted around here.

It is a tad rediculous - did you guys watch all the Baseball tonight nonsense before the year bagan? I vividly remember John Kruk stating emphatically that Randy Johnson would win 30 games and the Yankees would annihilate the entire league. Then, when they were like 12-20 or whatever, he pronounced they were too old, an aweful team, and would barely make it to .500 for the year.

THEN, when they won 8 of 10 or whatever they did, he (I can still remember his sad, pathetic voice freaking out) proclaimed THE YANKEES ARE BACK and are "too good" not to win the division and dominate the AL. Now they are struggling again, and he is back on the "they're not too good" bandwagon.

I have learned that I know about as much about baseball as these douchebags, and that I am MUCH less apt to jump the gun and form an opinion over the course of a week regarding a baseball team. Furthermore, I have a lot more teams to think and learn about than the Yankees... and when they go through a bad stretch or a good stretch, I don't care any more or less than I would about another team.

And, perhaps I'm alone on this - but I don't even care to Yankee bash much. The Yankee obsession I find a tad antiquated, especially after winning the WS last year. All the hate I had for the Yankees was jealous rage... now they are just another team to me. I still dislike them, I still want them to fail, I still get geared up for a series with them, and I want to beat them more than other teams. But you won't find me turning random conversations into Yankee bashing threads. That's not a statement about anything I've read here, just a "for the record" kind of thing to let you guys know what I'm like since I'm new.

I can see where you're coming from with that, but with me before we won it I hated them possibly a little out of jealousy and I'd let them know, but I still hate them and bash them as much now. For all those years they'd let you know every possible chance, "1918" and "26 rings". Now it's finally our turn to put some of that anger towards them and let them know that we have the last World Series victory and we took a trip to the WS right out of the grasps of their hands like they've done to us in times past.

True - but isn't that part of the reason we hate the Yankees, and New Yorkers in general? The "better than you" nose in the air ******** attitude? I just don't feel like becoming a bitch like them... I'm more interested in REVELING in my own team's success...

Nope I'm not Clemensrules or whatever it is. Its hard getting on here all the time when your in the middle of a film shoot. I'm in film school and in the middle of working on a film. One thing i've noticed at the moment is that the Sox and Yanks suck right now.

I've noticed that it is entirely possible that neither the sox nor the yankees make the playoffs this year.

It's possible, but I don't know, it just doesn't seem like it can happen.
