Imagine if the yankees or red sox dont make the playoffs!

How boring would baseball be without the yanks vs sox in the alcs!!!

The redsox and yankees are fighting over 2nd place! While the yanks and sox are playing footsy, the Orioles are sitting up in 1st place kicking ass. They are a mean f-ing team right now. The yanks dominated the 90's and Red Sox last year. Imagine if neither the Sox or Yankees make the playoffs because minnesota, texas, or angels take the wild card in the AL!!! This is the summer of excitement!!!

Umm. Not a Sox fan I guess. Here for the weekend, I presume?

I'm pretty sure he's a sox fan judging from some other posts, but we do need to realize that neither of this gargantuan teams are in first, and that it will take some winning to take over. It is kinda crazy actually.

It is crazy. SportsCenter said it best yesterday. Minnesota is only 4 games back of Chicago in the AL East. Chicago has the best record in baseball. With the teams in the AL East being much better than last year (Baltimore and Toronto have vastly improved), the Wild Card could come out of the Central because the East teams will be beating each other up. This year in the East, you may need to win the division to get into the playoffs. For the East, whoever beats outside division opponents the best will most likely go into the post season, as outside division opponents are sources of wins for AL East teams.

It is a crazy thought, and yes, he is a Sox fan. I've been wondering about this whole craziness of the East as well. I believe Baltimore will eventually choke, and I am going to change my opinion of the Yanks winning the East to the Sox. Purely because I believe they are the better team. Better pitching, and better lineup. When both teams are on, I still think the Sox will win.

Personally I don't tihnk the Yankees have the pitching to keep it up in the long haul but I doubt Baltimore will be able to keep it up like this all season.

No yankees or sox in the playoffs means the end of the world, or a boring playoff. Honestly, who would be in the playoffs? Chicago, Baltimore, Anahiem and Minnesota? A bunch of boring small ball teams.

For us it would be boring. For every other team besides the Sox and Yanks (especially in the AL), it would give them a new hope that maybe now they could go all the way. If you take the Sox and Yankees out of the equation in 2004, which AL team goes to the World Series? The Twins, the Angels?

I think both teams will make it, thats just how it goes. Chicago in the central wont keep it up, just like Baltimore wont. and Minnesota will pass Chicago and Boston and New York will pass the Orioles (their injuries to Bedard and Bigbie wont help them keep their lead) and it will all be fine, amd we will have our alcs Sox vs. Yanks thriller like we have had

Fine, what's more likely is that one of these teams could lose in the ALDS. We aren't perfect, and the Twins/Chisox/Angels could possibly beat one of 'em.

How can you possibly say that they have been consistantly the best team in baseball from day 1. With a rotation like that there is no doubt in my mind barring injuries that they will win the AL Central pitching wins ball games.

They just dont seem like legit, like they are a fluke, but I guess its too early to tell...I dunno, but whatever, not the division Im concerned with anyways

True we arent perfect, I guess im getting toooooo ahead of myself, it just seems like baseball is upside down right now, it doesnt seem right

I don't think the Yankees are going to make much of a showing over the full course of the season. All the other teams in the A.L. East have got their number. My bet is that Orioles and Sox go neck-and-neck down the stretch for the 1 and 2 spots, with Yankees and Blue Jays in a battle for third.

I'm not so sure on this whole writing teams off thing. Why are we so sure that the White Sox or the Orioles can't hold their lead? Those pesky O's do a pretty damn good job at keeping us and the Yankees down in the standings and the White Sox have the best record in baseball. Hell, include the AL West and teams like Texas or Anaheim could potentially give us trouble.

There are too many good teams right now to say that for sure we'll get into the playoffs. Plus I think too many things would have to happen for it again to be the Yankees and Sox.

The White Sox starting rotation is leading the league in Innings Pitched, Wins, and ERA. They are no fluke and they are not going away.

No offense, but I hate it when fans have a back-up team...

everyone has a mistress team. Nothing wrong with it. Like above, i'll pull for sox, i'm loyal to the sox. However, if whatever reason they tank....i'm rooting twinkies
