Here are his numbers last year: .372/.414/.455

 

Not even close to .406/.553/.735

 

I don't think Ichiro, or any active player can touch this.

True but those numbers are deciving Seattle management was trying to get Ichiro to pull the ball in the first half of the season in an attempt to try and get him to hit more homeruns. When they gave up on that and just let him do his own thing he went out of his mind hitting the ball. If he just does his own thing the entire year it would surprise me but not shock me if he hit .406+.

What is your prediction for his batting average this year if he doesnt get injured?

He could very easily end up around the .370 mark.

ba is blown way out of proportions. a walk in the leadoff spot is just as good as a hit. OBP is more important, especially out of the leadoff spot imo.

It's awful for someone hitting .372. Noted hacker Nomar Garciaparra put up an OBP of .434 when he hit .372, with a SLG of .599. He had more than twice as many extra-base hits.
