PHOENIX -- It was mostly quiet on the Randy Johnson trade front on Sunday with multiple sources saying that the three-team deal still hadn't been submitted for approval to Commissioner Bud Selig and that there was no certainty it would be on Monday -- most likely because a high ranking Dodgers official said the team is re-examining its participation. But Dodgers general manager Paul DePodesta said late Sunday that he was having second thoughts about the Los Angeles segment of the deal.

b.t.w- the dbacks added Mike Koplove to the deal he's going to the dodgers. He is a reliever that went 13-6 in his career with a 3.44 ERA in 171 appearances.

Yes, but this trade isn't going to be held up by the Union. Johnson didn't agree to a pay cut. It will happen, Dodgers just want to sign someone else at the same time.

This isn't the red sox. Yankees get things done.

The holdup has very little to do with the Yankees, unless they pay most of Vazquez' salary to make things easier on the Dodgers.

According to what I've read, the Dodgers need to have a few other deals in place before they can pull the trigger on this deal.

Personally, I don't see LA's motivation for making this deal, at all. Shawn Green, Kaz Ishii, and Brad Penny for Mike Koplove and Javy Vazquez?

Penny and Vazquez are both .500 career pitchers. Vazquez has averaged 7.7 K's per 9, and has a 3:1 K:BB ratio for his career. Penny's only got a 2:1 K:BB ratio and 6.5 K's per 9, but he's also 2 years younger.

Green is overpriced but can still produce, and Koplove is mediocre at best.

In my mind, LA would be stupid to make this trade.

Although it would give the Dodgers more flexibility to dump Green's salary, the deal just doesn't make sense for them to do. All they're really doing is trading Penny for Vazquez, which is a terrible move, since Penny is younger, cheaper, and, some would argue better. Then they're giving up Ishii, who is a respectable lefty, and Green, who is still a pretty good bat, for a reliever, which they don't need, and the two best Yankees prospects, who are frankly pretty bad. And most of the cap room they save on Green goes right out the window, since Vazquez is getting payed a pretty good chunk. Basically, I just repeated elsrbueno, but maybe you'llfinally get it after a bit of repetion. This isn't about not wanting the Yankees to get Randy; this is about the trade making absolutely no sense for the Dodgers to make. As I've said before, don't make unfounded statements without anything to back you up. In case you can't understand that... SHUT UP.

Penny for Vaz isn't that bad considering they both have about equal talent and penny's always injured it seems. Ishii also hasn't been the same since he got hit in the face. After having said that, it still doesn'st make enormous sense for LA to do the trade.

First of all you can't sit there and tell me that not one Red Sox fan wants us to get RJ. Second of all who the hell are you telling me to Shut up. That was uncalled for. if you would pay attention to the trade, the Yankees have agreed to pay the Dodgers some of the salary for vazquez. Who knows why they agreed to this trade. As a Yankee fan I don't care. it doesn't make sense for the Dodgers as we look at it, but they must have a agenda.

Oh, it's not that you're Yankees fans. It's just that you're typical Yankees fans: arrogant, smug, and making all sorts of statements plainly calculated to annoy everyone else on the board.

I don't think any yankee fan here ig going out of their way to annoy you. You would know if thats what they were trying to do. There'd be a lot more "26-6" sayings.
