Don't we already have Fast Reply on this board.

Anyway, I don't think it's a good idea because there aren't as many missed calls anymore. If there is a questionable call the umps are huddling up and are getting the calls right like in Game 6. I don't think that 4 umpires would miss the same call, unless only one umpire had a clear look at it.

Yeah, I read that. I don't know... when I first read it I was like "NO WAY, it will make the games too long" but then I thought, well, home viewers get to see instant replay all game long so why not the umps? Besides, what really makes the games long are all the commercials. And I'd rather see a perfectly called 4hr game than a terribly called 3 hour one. Then I thought, I need a beer to think this over.

I'd agree with you except I keep going back to all the bad calls in the 1999 ALCS.

That really killed the Red Sox that series.

No way, it would really slow down the game

Yes, but can't you argue it the other way too? What if there's a bad call that starts or extends a rally? Instant replay may in this situation actually shorten the time of the game. Maybe there wouldn't be a pitching change and commercial break and warm up pitches.

If it's a really controversial call, how much time would it add compared to a player or manager coming out and arguing for 5 minutes then getting tossed?

 Just something to think about.

kudos to cashman for acknowledging that a-rod slapped the ball..

i think instant replay in baseball should happen, it shouldn't be the umpires job, there should be people in booths that watch every questionable play/call. that way the correct call is made. if it's too close to tell the call on the field stands.

I don't like the idea of instant replay. YES, the umpires screw up calls sometimes, but that's what makes them human. I think they did a very good job on controversial calls of getting together and making the RIGHT call. They should simply do that if a manager's got a legitimate argument.

It's the umpire's job to make the calls in the heat of the moment. We may not like their calls all the time, but they are right 98% of the time. I say leave it to the umpires.
