I'm not going to buy one, but i gues if people are willing to pay the money, they could make a lot from it.

The article says possible discounts on Sox merchandise. If anything someone should just run a website to "register" the Red Sox nation and see how many there are.

 

MLB will make money from it..

This is a dumb idea. I live and breathe this team every day of the year. I don't need a card, just my old beat up Sox hat and my brand new World Champions gear.

I don't like it, but it is a way to make money, whoever thought of this will be getting a raise soon.
