I’m not a superstitious person by nature, but I have found myself doing little routines since the playoffs started.

For one, every morning since game one against Anaheim, I play the same song on the way to work. It’s only about a 8-10 minute drive, so during the first series I played it twice in a row. With the sweep it seemed to be working – or at the very least I couldn’t stop doing it because I was so self conscious of it.

I kept doing it to start the Yankees series because the name of the song is “Evil” (it’s a great song, so it was easy to make the Evil Empire connection) but as the games went on and the losses started to rack up, I needed to change something. So after game 3 I finally found the Tessie song and made a 2 song CD of the Evil song and the Tessie song. In the end I guess it didn’t hurt because the Sox came back and won the next four.

Now I’m thinking of adding a 3rd song to it for the World Series. I have a couple of songs in mind, but I think I’ll wait until the first loss to the Cards before I go messing with the morning drive songs. Or maybe I should remove the Evil song as the Yanks are now out of it…..

For the first game of each series I had pizza from the same place. That’s a trend I’m more than looking forward to repeating on Saturday.

I also wear the same, unwashed shirt for every game. I wash it between each series, but not during.

And finally, for the clincher games in the first two series, I recorded the games for prosperity on dvd. That’s a trend I hope to continue next week. ;)

Do any of you guys have little routines/superstitions going on right now?

I honestly can say that I'm not anymore. Last year, and for as long as I can remember, I'd readjust my self in my seat or make my brother move his leg if the sox started pitching poorly, or if we were leaving too many runners on base.

This year anything goes. I've been watching games on different TVs and running around the house, talking during games, not saying "please please please please please". I used to even blink in a certain way, to a certain beat, if I was REALLY REALLY nervous. Not any more for some reason. :shurg:

Maybe the combination of your routines and my lack of them added up to a Red Sox win? Hmm, we should continue this I guess.....

And good idea about recording. But, American consumerist that I am, I plan on buying the season DVD a la Patriots when this is all over. I know I'll get chills watching it X many years down the road.

The only thing I did was switch my livestrong bracelet from my left hand to my right hand before the bottom of the 9th inning of Game 4. Apparently it worked.

I sure as hell am after the series. I didn't wear my fitted Red Sox hat for the first 3 games, but I wore it for the last four, and wore it in the rally cap way all 4 games. It worked!

That's quite funny CrespoBlows because the same thing happened to me (well, only for the last three games, but still worked!).

A friend of my parents was in Boston (her daughter lives there now) and she brought back (to Australia) a red sox hat for me. She came back just before the ALCS started. I didn't wear it for the first four games, but felt we needed some luck so I put it on for games 5, 6 and 7.

Here's hoping the hat continues the streak!

I was superstitious in 75, 78, 86, 99 and 03. I gave up on it, now I just watch the games and it's much easier.

You do understand that if the Sox lose this year, it's all YOUR fault, don't you??

The Sox were up in game 6, my wife came home from her Mom's and the Yankees scored quickly after. I made her leave and not come back until after the game. It didn't go over real well, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

i am not supersticious at all. what i do could not possibly change the outcome of the game. i hate it when people yell at other people because they said something that "caused" a yankee homerun etc. those people are just lame and ruin the game for others.

the only thing i did was not shower through the whole alcs. not because i'm supersticious. but because i woke up, studied all day, watched the 15 hour games and went to bed, repeat the next day. i didn't get to shower until the day AFTER we became al champs.

no one noticed, cus i'm sexy.
