This is a tough one. Pedro has made alot of posturing with his words and frankly he has backed it up with an injury free and sucessful season. The Clemens decision certainly has to come into thinking here for Theo when he considers letting go a player who has earned his fame in a Boston uniform.

I also don't think the MFY are as much of an option as people believe. Pedro and Posada clearly have a strong dislike for each other that pre-dates the fight last year in the ALCS.

If Pedro does leave I think it will be to a warm weather team.

I hope he stays.

i'm running out of reasons to cheer for the boston red sox, if they don't resign pedro i'll be down to less than a haldfull of players to cheer for.

i really think hell resign here. hes had it awesome here, the fans love him, hes a great pitcher, we all know it, and we all love him. that alone would make me want to resign at a place like boston. i believe we will resign him if the yankees go after him, which they will, and i have got to believe that he goes to the MFY or comes back here.

you do realize that A TON of sox fans ( by that i mean the morons that think they are sox fans ) have given up on pedro and think he's a no good pitcher with a bad attitude.

 

honestly, if people started giving me the crap the boston media and some so called fans give him i would sign with another team and show them all that i'm still a cy young caliber pitcher.

 

pedro owns, if we don't resign him i'll be so sad.

Pedro's awesome. I think John Henry and company need to do what it takes to sign this guy to a reasonable contract. If his demands become unreasonable... well... then it gets difficult. I would be so pissed to see another Red Sox icon in Yankee pinstripes...

 

They need to resign Pedro. He's not the #1 guy anymore (sorry Petey, but Schilling IS that guy), but he's the best #2 pitcher available... and he's done so much for this organization. RESIGN PEDRO!

I totally agree....it's the press and some fair weather fans who think the guy should be striking out 10+ every time out. I would be pissed off if they let him go...He has done a lot for this team, he is part of the club, the fabric of the clubhouse and I think he should stay here until he hangs them up.

 

The papers try everything to tweak him, to piss him off and to question his every move and sentence...I say please sign up for more, I would scream and cry if they let him slip away...

 

Pedro isnt stupid enough to let greed make him think he could play for the yankees, their team philosphy and hi just arent a match...

The do would have to go, too.

Pedro is a warrior. It was obvious Monday he didn't have his best command, he had lost 3-5 MPH on his fastball from even game 2 (when he was hitting 94-95 a lot), and he STILL pitched a good game against a GREAT offensive team.

 

Pedro battles. He's fearless. He LOVES pitching for this city, this team. He loves pressure situations.

 

A note to John Henry: Fenway Park sold out EVERY SINGLE GAME this season... so don't cry poor anymore... we don't buy it.

I think they should sign him then trade him to Tampa or Milwaukee for prospects.
