"He just didn't look right," sighed manager Terry Francona. "I was trying to give him every opportunity, because his heart is so big, and he has the ability to reach back."

this is insane. Even the announcers were taken aback at how poorly francona manages. He left schilling in too long. He takes guys out for no reason, and how stupid was it to bring in wakefield and then let timlin pitch way too long, with no one warming up.

This team is awesome, a lot opf heart and big bats, but somehow it always feels like francona is in way over his head.

How did he leave Schilling in too long? Did you want him taken out after thye scored 2 runs? You have to have faith in your pitching especially your best pitching and not take him out at the first sign of trouble.

Francona stinks. he is a HORRIBLE manager. He will lose the ALCS for the Red Sox. No question. If the Red Sox do lose, will he be fired?

damn right he left schilling in too long. The announcers were talking sabout how schill didnt have any stuff.

First question, is why do you start a guy who is injured. Becasue he has a big heart..that's just plain ********.

yes, after he gave up 2 runs you yank him. Because he didnt have any stuff, becasue you dont want the injury to get worse, and becaue you might want to keep the score close.

then your regular bullpen is doing the job, keep ing the game close. What does francona do, he puits in f***ing wakefield because he hasnt pitched in awhile and is astarter not a reliever. He gives up twqo more runs. Then he brings in embree who for once did well-he leaves him against righties and lefties, and then after he does well. He yanks him for timlin. Th guy who got tagged the other day.

No one warming up. Myers sitting on his ass. Timlin lets a couple of guys on...lefties at bat.

Still no action in the bullpen.

Unbelievable.

Kevin Millar, asked whether there was a difference between Francona and former manager Grady Little: "No, it's the same thing. They're very similar guys. Tito is more of an idiot like us. It's a generational thing. It's hilarious. We go over bunt signs, and he's on the toilet." Millar also said, "Grady was more country, but they both are players' managers and they both don't front-run you, and that's a tough thing to do. They have not forgotten how hard this game is." . . .

maybe tito should manage the game from the toilet, for now the only thing that's in the tooilet IS his managing.

Timlin got Matsui out so you can't complain about that, even though I do think Tito should have brought in Myers. Bernie is a weaker hitter from the left side and he was 3-21 lifetime against Timlin, so I think Tito made the right move in keeping Timlin in to face Bernie.

Of course you wouldn't of started Schilling knowing what you know now, but Schilling at less health is better than whoever else you would have started. Would you have started Wakefield, because he must be tired according to you so he can't pitch? Do you think Lowe would have done much better seeing how he struggled mightily against Tampa Bay and had a horrendous start last time he pitched at Yankee Stadium. It just seems to me that you are just looking to find a reason to criticize Tito for every move he does. but you do this after the fact. I think in no way did Tito cost us the game last night.

I think francona is a s***** manager before during and after any game.

Much of what you say is right, however, and I am second guessing.

But I could tell schilling was off as could the announcers. If he said he was fine and could start, fine. He lied.

But when it was clear he was faltering and throwing 5 to 8mph less than usual--I would taken him out. and to hell with his pride, etc.

I think wakefield was the wrong move, he hadnt pitched in a long time.Mendoza and embree, et al. were doing fine--I thought we were carrying 11 arms just so we would have the arms for situations like this. What's more Myers wasnt even warming up at that point int he game where Timlin was faltering. Once he let two guys on I would have taken him out.

Second guessing is easy, but I dont think Francona is a good manager and he is severly outclassed in this series.

Go pedro.

People have bad innings, I thought that Schilling would rebound from the poor first inning and come back strong. The pitch Matsui hit was a great pitch thrown by Schilling, but it was a good piece of hitting by Matsui to hit that pitch when it was almost on the ground. Bernie's hit was a ground ball up the middle. The only hard hit ball that inning was Sheffield's double.

I'm no fan af Mr. Francona myself, but hey, why the heck is anybody calling for the manager's head? If the ball David Ortiz sent to the wall Tuesday night has sailed 6 inches higher, the series would have been tied right now at 1-1. If one guy could have whacked a homer with one man on base Wednesday night, that game would have been tied and the Red Sox could very well have been leading the series at 2-0. Who would be flaming Francona then?

The final outcome so far may be 2 losses for the Sox, but they certainly didn't get their butts kicked by any means. On both occasions, one swing of a bat could have changed the outcome.

My hopes aren's so high right now, but if the Sox win games 3 and 4, this effectively becomes a 2-out-of-3 series from that point on.

Who would you bet on at that point? I'd take the Sox regardless of who is pitching on either side.

Schilling did go 1-2-3 in the 2nd inning so there was reason to believe Schilling could work out his trouble on the mound. Just so I don't sound like a Francona apologist, I thought Lescanic was a bad move. Anyone who walks out of the bullpen and then walks the first two guys he faces doesn't deserve to pitch in a game. I know he didn't give up any runs, but Tito's faith in this guy could hurt this weekend.

As for the offense, clearly the hitters are pressing, swinging at balls that aren't even close. I wonder what Francona is doing to calm his players.

francona is the worst manager in the history of baseball. A doofus, a dip s*** and dolt.

By the way wake field sucks as well. I hope we get rid of him in the offseason.

The sad thing is they like francona, which is hard to believe.

We really suck.

Not much else to say, this was embarassing.

The worst pitching preformance I have seen.
