Going for 11 wins in the last 14 games. Hopefully we'll win this one and every other team that we are either chasing or are being chased by will lose. How can Texas be on a 7 game win streak? Dammit, just as we start to play well so do all the other teams.

Can we catch the yankees?

The rolling Red Sox will try to make it 11 wins in 14 games when Bronson Arroyo takes the ball Saturday afternoon against the White Sox.

A victory would give Boston its first five-game winning streak since July 6-10.

Arroyo has gone seven innings in six of his last eight starts.

The White Sox are calling up left-hander Josh Stewart from Triple-A to make the spot start.

In Friday's opener of this three-game series, the Red Sox rolled to a 10-1 victory.

Players to watch

Manny Ramirez could be ready to get hot, as evidenced by his grand slam Friday night. ... David Ortiz is in a rare production drought, with no RBIs in his last five games. ... Orlando Cabrera (two hits, four RBIs Friday night) is looking more comfortable at the plate.

Quotable

"I've been feeling good about us all year. We haven't taken the breaks we've gotten and turned them into anything. Right now, we're clicking, our lineup is consistent from top to bottom, we're pitching better. We're just getting more consistent. It's a good time of the year to do it. " -- Red Sox right-hander Curt Schilling

arroyo has been awesome lately, i hope he can keep it up

as for the yankees. we play them 6 more times. as long as we beat them the rest of the way out, and we do at least 2 better than them in the rest, i think we can. loazia i think is pitching form them today, which will more than likely be another loss as theyve been playing poorly. i think that now the division is within reason with the way we are playing and the way theyre playing

ive been starting to realize that even thoguh i have been pessimistic about catching up..im startin to believe we can do it. the spankmees have been playin poorly lately, and we can prove to ESPN and peter gammons that we can do this. we have to play like this everyday, and theres no reason we shouldnt. the yankees havent played very well against us at all this season. if we can take 4 of 6 from them, i will be pleased, so we can narrow that defecit to maybe around 4 games. we just have to win when they lose and be consistent. this team can do it.

as for stewart, well hes making his first appearance vs the red sox in his career, lets make him want to forget it.

Facing ... Josh Stewart. This has to be a win today. Inexperienced lefty going up against Manny, Millar, Varitek ... he's done.

SUMMON THE FIRE! (hey, we're 8-2 since a guy on the .406 forums decided to come up with that cheesy phrase)

manny with a 3R homer a little earlier...yes i kno its a little late but u gotta be happy with him now..startin to get hot again. and i just realized...should we make the playoffs this year...we have pedro and schilling goin the two first games...and then we need one mroe win. that would be awesome.

also...

anaheim 1

yankees 0

alrighty then, lets win today, and lets go angels!!!

i forget how many games we are behind the spankmees?

jose guillen with a solo shot off blowiza.

angels 2

yanks 1

and what an at bat by manny. fouling off every tough pitch and getting an infield single right up the middle. hes the best pure hitter out there.

are you serious? This is the thing, right now easy schedule for you, hard schedule for the yanks. In september it all flip flops, things will even out.

Good game from what I've read. Ortiz sure picked a good time to go cold, that way he can heat up when all of our bats start to cool off a little.

We've beaten the good teams, it seems as if the Yankees can't beat the good teams, they just beat up on the 60 million and under clubs. The Red Sox are winning away from Fenway, and now have a 5 game winning streak, a sign of good things to come.

home sweet home. we got the last game in chicago and then blue jays again. weve already played the teams the yankees have already...the yankees have played the bad teams more times than we have. and if we can beat up on these losers, than we are in good shape. 6.5 back, here we go.

hopefully we can do this...it would be amazing...and by teh way the yankees and sox have been playing lately...i wouldnt say that we are having false hope.

Well we must have beaten some good teams because we have the best record in the AL.

also just curious...do u only post on a red sox board or do u also post on a yankee board? i mean, it doesnt take much to realize you have the best record in the AL...which kinda gets annoying when a yankee fan himself makes it recognizable.
