look, this may sound biased, but i voted petey. petey has been on fire lately, and his ERA will be down around 3.30 at the end of the season. no one in the AL is having an amazing season, so it is wide open. in the end petey will win

as much as i would love it to be petey, i dont think so. i think it will be mulder. hes had the most consistent year out of anyone there, and he started the ASG, although it doesnt mean much. (loaiza didnt win it last year). if he keeps pitching like this, people have recognized it before, he will be the next 300 game winner.

Santana hasnt been consistent all year. He was about 6-6 up until the all star break where he has gone 6-0 since. Very similar to Pedro, as he started mediocre then caught fire. Of any of them, Mulder has been the most consistent followed by Schilling, Petey, Santana, and Hudson.

I voted Santana.

I have to say that Rivera doesn't deserve to win the Cy Young.

Rivera's the best closer in the game, but I just don't believe that relief pitchers deserve to win the award.

The save is an overblown statistic. Pitchers can throw 3 innings in a mopup game, or get 3 outs with a 3 run lead and get a save.

I didn't like how Gagne won it last year, and I don't think Rivera (or any reliever, for that matter) should win it this year.

Santana really is stabalizing that Minnesota staff and is really keeping Minnesota atop the AL Central this year.

he's 14-6 with a 3.13 ERA, and has an incredible 207:46 K:BB ratio

All these pitchers are having great seasons, but Santana has pitched better than Pedro,Schilling,Mulder, and Hudson (in my opinion)

Mulders still leading in wins probably going to hit 20 W's gotta be Mulder.

Wins shmins. I think they should have no bearing whatsoever on the cy young (to an extent). Santana has been the better pitcher this year, period. The A's are, by most accounts, a better team than the Twins, so it would follow suit that Mulder would have more wins.

i just want to know why nathan was on this list???

When I posted this, Nathan's ERA was .74 with 68 K's, and 31 saves. I thought that deserved some regonition.

yes, it does, but like some people have said (too lazy to go look up who it was, lol) closers have it so easy. they just need to closer a game with a 3 run lead. Nathan has been awesome for the Twins, but he definitely doesnt deserve Cy Young

My Cy Young Standings as of Right Now

1. Johan Santana- He has proved me wrong, and is proving that he is a stud

2. Schill- Consistent all season, very, very good chance to get 20 wins

3. Mark Mulder- In his case wins means something. Oakland has little offense, and has had to pitch his way to wins, rather than the offense pounding out runs for him.

4. Petey- On fire, getting beter and better every outing
