Schilling can reach 97 whenever he wants to. Ok, maybe he has to reach back just a little these days, but I remember when he was with Arizona in 2001-2002, he would hit 98 on the gun several times in an outing. After his injuries last season and just getting older, he's taking it a lot easier and still winning. I think he'd rather be around for the duration of his contract with the Red Sox rather than go in for reconstructive surgery again as he did in Philly.

 

Hoss hasn't had three 300+ strikeout seasons by throwing 88.
