The Red Sox aren't playing good, consistent baseball right now. What's wrong? I think the players are thinking more about upcoming contracts than the team.

Other opinions?

I think a major shakeup is in order. Rattle the cage a bit.

Even after these two s***** losses to the Rockies, they are still the Wild Card team. What's wrong with this team in part is the fact that they don't hit when the bases are loaded. The silver lining would be, they can get men on base; the dark cloud, they can't drive them in.

Timely f***ing hitting is the answer. I don't believe anyone is thinking about contracts; that's ********. Thanks........I've vented and yes, the Yankees still suck.

All I know is that the Sox have not looked sharp in terms of consistently knocking in runs. We usually turn to Schill for a "pick me up" game, but even he couldn't save us last night. I'm not counting on Lowe or Wakefield to do anything...this team needs another dominant performance from Petey.

By the way, what a horrible at-bat for McCarty last night. Ball 3 should have been Strike 3...what a horrible call by the umps. Even after that GIFT, with the go-ahead run on 2nd, he hits a weak pop-up to right. Disappointing.

LOB, RISP, LOB, RISP. That's the problem. What did we have, 24 LOB over the course of two games? More? That's ridiculous. I dont know what you can attribute it to. It could be contracts, but I doubt it.

And I dont know how you would solve this little problem of ours. A mojar shakeup may just rattle things up a bit more. A major change could just throw everyone off. I think we just need to sit and wait. Maybe Dave Wallace can sit down with every player and go over tape, like he did with Pedro.

Oh, and by the way, welcome to the site elsrbueno.

yeszir,

Thanks.

I'm not saying I have the solution either, I'm just REALLY frustrated right now with the way the Sox are playing!

Maybe its been difficult to adjust to the influx of new players (Trot, Nomar, Youk, etc) that have been added to the roster. Hopefully, within a few days, the sox will overcome this barrier and get back on track. It better be soon though, because we're about to get swept by the Rockies and we're 5.5 back of New York.

I think some lineup tweaking may be in order here, along with some serious video sessions with Papa Jack. The talent is clearly there. The problem almost has to be a mental one. Although batting Nomar 5th while he's basically in Spring Training doesn't seem like a terribly bright idea, it can't account for this across-the-board suckage in key situations.

Was the shakeup the sox needed the re-establishment of Derek Lowe? I guess we'll see. We also had an offensive outburst.

I think 'Tek needs a couple days off. He gets tonight while Wake pitches, but I think he's getting worn down. We can't lose him just yet, Shoppach needs another couple months at Pawtucket. :D

The Red Sox keep shooting themselves in the foot. A team good enough to win 6 of 7 from the MFY, saw fit to reinvent the wheel. The team had a nice groove going, but once the injured "stars" started coming back, the Sox essentially took the entire team back to spring training. You cannot plunk Nomar into the heart of both the offense & defense and expect smooth sailing. The opposition is in mid-season form, while Nomar is in extended spring training. The good work that was building all season long has been sacrificed for a player who is trying to reclaim his resume. Pokey is by far the best defensive option at short. The feel good crowd running the team needs to get back to putting the best lineup out there and sticking with it. Shuffling 4 players into 3 positions doesn't help any of them. Once Mueller returns, it will happen again. The Red Sox are misusing their talent, preferring to run things by the book. There isn't a seasoned hunch player among them; just bookball weenies afraid to step on some toes to get results. And as they treat the team like a chemistry set, the much needed home field edge for the post season keeps slipping further from their grasp. Is Dick Williams still breathing?
