Anastacio Martinez makes his debut

Two Martinez's pitched in Saturdays game: Pedro and Anastacio. The rookie got the win oddly enough. He looked sharp, getting a 1-2-3 inning in the 7th.

 

He's looked sharp in the minors this year, posting a sub 2.3 ERA at Altoona/Portland/Pawtucket. He even had 14 saves at Portland. He's started in the past (2000-2002) and didn't have too much success. He's only 25 so he has a lot of room to improve.

 

I see him helping in the bullpen, if not this year then the next. The sox have brought up a lot of nice help in Dinardo and now Martinez. It'll be interesting to see how it works out.
