Tanner Houck "Hopes To Be Contributing" to Boston Red Sox in September

I'm done counting on hopes of pitchers returning from the IL on schedule or earlier.

I think the rollercoaster nature of rehab and stuff not being fully back (i.e. sucking) means the player isn't fully recovered. Also, if they are in the homestretch and trying to get into the playoffs, I don't want a guy coming off IBF and working on things pitching meaningful innings. He can do that in AAA on rehab for the rest of the season by using an option year if you really have to.

I’ll be impressed if he’s far enough along to make an AAA rehab assignment

How advanced is this league wuth a specialized pitching coach?  When I coached my daughter’s softball teams, coaching was just me and a bunch of off duty cops that fortunately did not specialize in anything more complicated than “first base” and “third base”.

Also, I’m nowhere near done with frozen iguana jokes…

The reason Sonny Gray bounces from one team to another is that he's just too contradictory. 

It's not his fault -- his parents named him -- though all administrations are hypocritical about transparency (especially those whose favorite colors are redacted and white).

If I owned a team called the Red Sox, the first change I'd make is a sock code: wear your pants high enough to show your colors!
