  1. Same with Ells...had some bad reads when he first came up, but his speed and athletecism made up for it...he eventually adjusted and had better reads, which im guessing the same for Benni...
  2. Ok, sorry if i was sounding defensive...sometimes i get in that mode when on these boards. I understand all the possibilities. Thruth is we wont know until he gets here and has played a number of games. We need to see how well and quickly he can adjust...i really dont think theres a whole lot left for him in the minors. Maybe some, but with the need this team has and the poor overall performance coming from LF, i dont see much of a negative bringing him up right now. Mental makeup is solid from all reports. Hard worker, lots of time in the film room. Hes a ballplayer, as they say. None of us can predict how a prospect will do. But from what we have to go on regarding Benni, Im ok with this.
  3. Who has said theres not a difference? Because ive read nothing like that.
  4. Unfortunately your going to have those types in Boston. Ill stick to what i said about a month ago when I started this thread...I thought hed be up before September uf there was a need. and I thought once he came up, he would be here for good. I still stand by that. Because i believe in the kid, doesnt mean im not realistic about the possibilities, good or bad. I just see more good with Benni than other prospects.
  5. If your referring to me then please exclude me from that...Im VERY familiar with the minors and how things work. I understand theres a difference in AA to MLB. I also understand that Every player is different. Im saying I think Benni will be ok from what ive seen and read. Apparently so do the red sox..theres not much of a differnce from AA to AAA...obviously theres a bigger difference from AA to MLB...theres a need and since Benni has pretty much dominated minor leagues so far I dont see a need to hang out in AAA. Give him a shot and lets see what happens...an adjustment period is likely. How long it takes him to adjust will determine if he needs more time or not.
  6. Theres PLENTY of offspeed stuff, and really good stuff in AA...hes got solid pitch recognition. His k/BB is outstanding. I know its on a case to case basis and I believe this is the right move for their situation. If they had a reliable LFer then my guess is we wouldnt see Benni until sept...
  7. Your over reacting dude...yes, he has dominated minor league ball to this point. Most scout will tell you if you can handle AA pitching, theres not a big jump from that to AAA... Since his minor adjustmentnperiod in AA hes had a 920OPS...thats pretty dominant...He was a college standout and most scouts saw a quick climb to MLB. This move is not surprising to a lot of people. Sure he may have a few game adjustment period like a lot of prospects. No big deal. Hes certainly got the mental makeup, from all accounts, to handle it. We have Holt missing balls in LF as well as Martinez. Then theres brentz...do you really think a small adjustment period from Benni is going to be that harmful to the current LF lineup? Yeah, I didnt think so.
  8. I could see a trade with Pablo for another bad deal once he proves hes healthy. Castillo and Craig are sunk costs at this Point. At least pablo has a history of post season success and at least above average regular season numbers. I dont see them moving Hanley. Actually I hope to see him at 1b next year and do a little DHing... And now, Let the Andrew Benintendi MLB career begin!!!!
  9. Yes he has before the games.
  10. Well the professionals who are around him every single day say hes ready now and believe he can handle it...nothing wrong with challenging a 21-22 yo who is dominating minor league baseball, especially when there is a direct need on the big club. There may be an adjustment period so i hope some fans allow for that possibility
  11. Well, they have had a ton of injuries in LF and now have Brentz, Holt, and Martinez platooing out there...nothing much on the trade market so yeah, i guess they were a little desperate. Just like when they switched Betts to CF and called him up. He may go through an adjustment time of a few games, but I, like the Sox staff, think hes got that certain something and feel he can handle it and that he is indeed ready for the show....
  12. Sure he may have a little adjustment period like in AA (which was only 5-7 games), but Ive believed this kid was going to be up sooner rather than later. Got a feeling hes up for good. Glad i got him im my fantasy about a week or two ago.
  13. Moon, They said he will take reps at 3b before games and maybe LF, but the real switch will come in the offseason for 2017. Theyve already begun that process.
  14. So, I guess its not such a far fetched thought like some were saying... And I picked him up on my fantasy team a week or two ago...cant wait to see the kid in the bigs. i really love how they bring guys up on the road. Less pressure starting in Fenway. Hope he blasts one out! Best of luck to ya Benni!!!
  15. So would you guys do the rumored potential deal for Sale with Beninitendi and ERod as the headliners? My guess is a couple few guys, names like Basabe, Owens, Chavis, Doubon, or they may even ask for Devers, could be involved. So just say its along the lines of ERod, Benni, Basbae and Devers. Probably another name as well. Im guessing if it were something like this it would be five guys with two or three Headliners. I dont know how much and who they (CWS) value in our system. What I do know is they had a bunch of scouts the last week scattered around single A Greenvile thru Pawtucket getting a good look at our prospects. Edit:Just heard they are not discussing Sale anymore from Joel Sherman. Oh well...I would have done that deal for the record.
  16. Really? Last I checked his whole career has pretty much been in the ALE with great success...Porcello had a rough start in Boston too. After a couple months you wanna give up on him? I like the creativity and all, but to say price isnt meant for the ALE is kinda silly if you ask me.
  17. The offense is just in a rut. They are still one of the best offenses in the league so you really cant say what good would it do to get an ace when most of us realize that this offense will come back around. You cant keep all the kids. Thats not how you run a team unless your the rays or A's...You identify the ones you would have to be blown away in a trade to let go and the ones that you feel are still valuable, but somewhat expendable. With that said, I dont see Sale coming to Boston. The asking price is utterly ridiculous. Price is coming around, and Porcello has pretty much been our "Ace" so far. I dont trust a flutterballer in the playoffs. ERod staying consistent is another concern. We most certainly need another starter, but with what teams are asking for im not sure its worth it. If no other teams bite them maybe the price will come down a bit...Sales delivery scares me anyway.
  18. Huh? Seriously? No man.
  19. He may just have a short adjustment like in AA of a week if he came up. If they NEED him, which they dont right now, then who cares about an option at this point? Seriously. The whole point to this thread was to say I would bring up Benni if we had a bunch of injuries and needed a hole filled. Nothing wrong with giving him a cup of coffee. Hes obviously not needed right now so I would expect a september call up...unless of course they trade him...
  20. We have one of, if not the best offense. We dont NEED his bat. It would be nice, sure. But at what cost. Doesnt ,make sense to me.
  21. Hey King! Thats what this whole thread is about. If they got more injuries and needed the kid, Id have no issue with a call up to fill in until the regulars get back. If he was producing, then maybe keep him here. But my suggestion to bring Benni up was for a cup of coffee to fill in, get a taste, and for the FO to maybe get somewhat of a little preview. No pressure on the kid. I think his makeup can handle the pressure though. If DD doesnt trade the kid, IMO, hes got a very bright future here in Boston.
  22. John Lester did the same thing at about the same age. You can kind of prepare for it, but until the velo goes down you cant adust. His velo has gone down a little like most every 30yo starter, and Now hes making the adjustments to his pitches. My guess is it may click before the years out but im betting that this (what he looks like now) isnt permanent. Hes too talented and smart to not be able to adjust. I believe Hes got the mental makeup to handle things while going through all this. Like I said, hopefully it clicks this year, at least somewhat. But if not, then I would bet he will be much better in 2017. I know, that doesnt help this year and he makes 30m per, but it is what it is. No amount of $$$ is going to speed this process along.
  23. Hes a high K big power hitter. He has too many holes in his swing to be a regular. At least on this team. Now, the As may like him as a regular, or another similar team... I only want Benni up here if hes going to play most every game. If they want a bench guy them keep what you got or bring up someone else...
  24. Yup...still hoping he wont be in the dugout come 2017...
  25. Buch wont be in a Sox uniform in 2017...I think DD is over his act already...
