Just random snippets for discussion. I'd love to get Greene, but my point is that there are some other very good targets. I'd make a modest wager that Burns will have at least as much WAR over the next 6 years as Greene will have over the next three. And with some odds, I'd bet on twice as much WAR. It might be a tad too early to consider Abreu a pure platoon. He had a .676 in limited ABs last year. IRT Narvaez, we don't have a catcher to replace him. And since the Reds have Stephenson, they won't want Narvaez. That said, Stephenson is getting a bit expensive, for the Reds, so if they wanted to throw him in as a trade chip, they can have Narvaez. In terms of value, I'd make your trade without much having to think about it much. But we do need a catcher. And I'd prefer to throw in Campbell instead of Mayer, since OF is not much of a problem currently. Now for the fun-what is a leftist belief in metrics? And where do I fit?

The idea of a "Big Three" came straight from the FO. No, it came from the rating companies. Anthony was ranked the #1 prospect in BB. Mayer was ranked #15. Campbell was ranked #4. The FO didn't pull three random names and call them the Big Three. No FO does that. They are ranked highly, or they are not.

But Crochet faces 5x as many batters as Anthony does when he plays.

Schwarber doesn't play 1st. And I think Suarez is less than the sum of his parts. 28 HRs, a 196/46 K/W, and a weak-ish glove, and age 34, doesn't entice me.

Just the fact that he's a lefty kind of puts him at a disadvantage.

Greene is clearly the best fWAR per IP Normally, I always do WAR/180 IP, but I wanted to emphasize the issues Greene's had with injuries (67 GS in three years).

Just my guess: Duran or Abreu Mayer or Campbell One other good, but non-elite prospect. We clear out one redundant, lefty outfielder, give up one very good prospect with a definitive position, and one prospect from a deep pool of prospects. The Reds get one very good outfielder, one prospect that might contribute immediately, and one decent prospect.

but I know Cora loves him. He's our highest rated bWAR position player, so I hope he loves him.

IRT Greene, it's the Shiny Object Syndrome. He's an excellent pitcher, but still only 3rd on the team in bWAR. I'd much rather pay a lower price and go after Lodolo, Abbott, or Burns.

"Even if healthy, Greene starts just one out of every five games. " That's always a cringeworthy line. Even if healthy, Ohtani bats only once out of every 9 batters. Why would you want Ohtani over a guy like Bello, who faces 25 batters a game? You'd think that fans of a team with Crochet would recognize that he is far more valuable than any of our hitters.

It's worth noting that Rafaela's K/W has improved from 10: to slightly worse than 4:1. That's a huge improvement for a 2nd year player.

We need to get back on track. He looked good for a while, but the NYY just teed off on him.

What a nice way to start his career. Too bad the BP blew it, but the great start is the real takeaway.
