  1. So who will replace Jerry on the Nesn broadcasts.?Most people will watch regardless of the announcers but more enjoyable with an entertaining crew. Eck does not want to do all the games and who else is there? Guys like Pedro ,Millar maybe even Middlebrooks might be entertaining but doubt they want to travel that much. Merloni?
  2. I would love to see Verdugo leading off playing RF for next several years. Out of Verdugo,Renfroe ,Cordero ,Gonzalez and Hernandez Verdugo will probably be the only one playing every day so would rather off not move him in the field Verdugo Xander Devers JD After that depends on who plays
  3. Heyman said Red Sox still make most sense for JBJ. So he has no clue “ possible” -or the Sox will have to move some salary to get him (not sure who it would be)
  4. Guerin Austin let go- more money for Ozuna or JBJ?
  5. Kluber may pitch well for the Yanks but with Eovaldi ,Sale and ERods injury history I am not at all upset the Sox did not get him
  6. I don’t care if we sell low. I would rather have a guy like Rosario who has some pop play LF then put Verdugo in CF and have Renfroe in RF. Or bring back Bradley to play CF have Rosario in LF and Verdugo in RF and Renroe as the 4th OF. Don’t see Beni in CF and don’t see him as a 4th OF given he can really only play LF.
  7. From what I read the vaccine just prevents you from getting symptoms not the actual virus. So a healthy person could conceivably get the virus not feel a thing and pass it on to others. If that is correct( I’m not a doctor so I don’t know) may be longer before fans can come back
  8. Can you imagine a lineup of Renfroe ,Dalbec and Chavis? What is the MLB record for strikeouts by a team?
  9. Depends if Bloom thinks the Sox can contend. If so maybe Wong or Schoop. If he think it’s a rebuilding year then I could see Arroyo or Chatham or possibly Chavis
  10. Arroyo had 4-5 good games A competitive baseball team cannot have Dalbec and Chavis in the same lineup Munoz had 4-5 good games and apparently is a below average infielder Maybe we have no choice but there is a good probability none of this lot is any good. When Holt was healthy we were spoiled. I still don’t get the outrage over letting him go but he was decent in the OF and IF
  11. Just saw an article on the free agent class Jackie Bradley #38 they predict he goes back to Sox at reduced salary
  12. Again I’m not opposed to rehiring him but what team do you think will have more talent the 2019 team or the 2021? If he couldn’t win in 2019 what makes people think 2021 will be better. It’s possible that 2018 was just a stars aligned everything went right aberration. Maybe it makes sense because what he did with Devers and with probably some more young players Coming up he can help them too. I just don’t see how he has such a great reputation when his track record is one great year and one so-so year.
  13. I’m not opposed to Cora but how does he get a pass on 2019? While they didn’t replace their closer and had some injuries they weren’t ready to play at the start of the season and with the talent they had at least contending for the 2nd wild card should have been attainable
  14. Depends on the salary JBJ will command- if he would take a 2 year contract at under 10 million might make sense. I have a feeling he might get a longer contract offer but who knows? He is clearly not a top tier FA and from watching on TV hard to tell how much his defense has regressed. One way or the other with the pitching they have(even with improvements) need a good defensive outfield. Beni and Verdugo fine in the corners so Blooms task is to make sure CF is taken care of
  15. As well as he pitched he is not an ace - he was never that impressive in the minors and only has 2 pitches. Not trying to be negative -maybe he can be middle of rotation in future which is better than a bullpen piece( which it looked like last year)
  16. I’m rooting for the guy but he would be on pace to strike out 300 times in a full season. A lot of good young hitters struggle with breaking balls but name me a good hitter who can’t hit a fastball? Dalbec can’t hit a low 90s fastball. Only hope is that his timing is off because he went from facing bad pitching at the alternate site to the Majors and in time he will make some more contact. Fielding scares me but he’s a 3rd baseman learning to play first on the fly. I know one thing NO WAY him and Chavis can be in the lineup next year if they want to have any semblance of a competitive team If the played everyday they could be pushing 500 k’s between them
  17. Bad as Weber has been at times he can give a team innings and might have a chance to be #26 on the roster
  18. I don’t see any way Duran is getting called up
  19. The position with the most available playing time is 2B and doesn’t look very comfortable there. If he sticks long term it’s to be a utility man - can see him playing several positions in AAA next year if there is MIlb season
  20. I am Ok with what was done 2018 and prior but Resigning injury prone Evoldi and Sale made things worse and ruined any chance of keeping Betts
  21. Sox have no use for another LH hitting OF
  22. I agree. I think compared to the league as a whole he is definitely an above average catcher. But not a cornerstone like Varitek or the likes and at his age when the Sox are good again his skills will be diminished. (Although if you listen to Dave O’Brien he’s the 2nd coming of Yady Molina)
  23. While a fair point the question is even if there are no plans to be competitive in 2021 the games still need to be played You need pitchers to pitch and eat innings or you will kill the bullpen . And while wearing out a journeyman relief pitcher isn’t a big deal you run the risk of wearing out everyone or bringing up minor leaguers who are not ready. I don’t see the Sox tanking 2020 and 2021 and all of a sudden contending in 2022. When the Sox went from worst to first before they had better young players than they do now. If Groome, Ward, Houck, Mata, Dalbec,Duran pan out tough times could be short lived but out of the six how many realistically will (odds are 1 or 2)
  24. Thought I read somewhere the “rebuild is complete” if so sure they have plenty of top prospects just as good
