The underperforming by virtually every everyday player thus far (with the exception of Devers) has made for a .500 ball club. Chris Sale is 1-7. The Red Sox are 3-9 in games that he's started. It's completely unfathomable. If you simply reverse that, and have the Sox at 9-3 in games that Sale has started (which would make a hell of a lot more sense in a real baseball world), the Sox would be 35-22 and none of us would be worrying about much of anything.
