    So far with less than a 100 games to go, Nunez has over double the AB's that Holt does, and is carrying a .253 BA which is acceptable for a utility infielder now playing virtually full time because of Pegleg Pedey's inflammation, which is a real post-op after effect. Maybe they just need to sideline Pedey until late July to try and allow better healing. What's not acceptable is the non-small samples from Devers, Bradley, Leon/Vazquez on a team geared to compete for the WS title. Swihart has now 64 AB's so I'd say under a .100 is still a small sample but he is going to have trouble getting back in barring injury. Sam Travis wasn't going real well at Pawsox and is just filling a seat until DD realizes that Gonzales is out there, lol.

    Time to rest Holt and cool that bat off. How is Nunez's knee holding up but Pedey can't get off the trainer's table?

    In other great news for the Sox, AG became available to day. One of Boston's clubhouse and fan favorite can come home and energize this bunch. Having beat the Yankees, the Mets no longer needed Adrian's services. Just get him a between inning chiropractor.

    Well, it's near summer and the heat is on to take 3 or all 4 in this series. A re-injury of the strained muscle would be some kind of bad news, so expect Mookie to bunt 5 times tonight. At least Mookie sat down Blake Swihart for a well deserved rest. .. Now it's time to watch the 4-9 hitters led by Mr. Devers.

    Who are you ? John Henry's loan officer. Unless you are writing the checks, don't worry about budgets and luxury taxes. That's not the fan's concern. Yes, the Sox have an enviable record, slowly slip sliding away, and there are notable holes at 2nd and catcher, with Devers , like JBJr, being affordable on the field when the other main cylinders are clicking above them in the lineup. But that's not what they have right now. The only place these guys are going this past week is towards a one game play-in for the WC.

    So to continue the 5-9 thoughts (regardless of who plays), that cohort went 1 =15; 4 for 19 and 4 for 19 again this series where the team scored 6 against a bad team with decent pitching this weekend. JBJr's HR was the only stroke worth even noting. 9 for 53 is a .169 clip from over half the lineup. RISP of 1 for 11 today. Never liked Matt Barnes, don't like him now and won't feel good about him tomorrow. Is he being overused because of idiot Smith, and wounded duck Thornburg. Maybe so . and put that on the FO and Cora for not being ready for idiot Smith's tantrum, and I disliked him more than Barnes going back to opening day.

    I think they do, but the real issue is that if they pick him back up on the roster, he adds considerably to the luxury tax.

    Starting the 5-9 hitting watch, those guys today (actually 7 players ) went 4 for 19, but the highlight and very welcome was JBJr's HR, proving the old squirrel/acorn story. JBJr had the only rbi in the bunch and only run scored courtesy of his dinger. Today's lineup featured 3 of the 5-9's hitting below .200 at the beginning of the game. Sure glad Mookie sounds a little better since he will cause one of these dudes to take a seat when he returns. When he departed his BA was at least double one of them.

    If Barnes is so settled in, didn't he allow a hit and a walk in a tight game 8th inning. Granted, He did not allow a run so he did his job but this guy is always one long fly from a mess. Not saying dump him, but he's not a lights out reliever.

    Sale, who self admittedly said he sucked in his prior two starts, is more patient with his teammates failures than many would be. The guy threw a gem and got another loss. Let's see if they can hit Mr TBD today pitching for a 21-40 team, against the Most Wins in MLB (MWiMLB)

    Chris Sale doing his part with the shutout and major gas through 4. On the other hand the usual suspects in the lineup are doing thier thing. Maybe they will break out now and score 3

    He always looked both ways before crossing the street. He did this ad nauseum in 2017 and seems to have reverted. Loves watching the center cut strike, and then flail at the descending , going outside low breaking ball.

    I guess this series is good news/bad news. Good part is that it is the White Sox at 20-40. Bad news is we can't field a consistent strong lineup. Hope 5-9 prove it wrong but that is not a championship team. Sale never gets much support anyway and this crew tonight isn't likely to change that trend. Sale needs to stop the HR's and throw a 7 inning shutout, then Kelly and Kimbrel. Win the first game, sweep the series. Get well JDM, Mookie, Pedey but take your time Pom.

    Ben C's mistakes under the tutelage and supervision of Larry L. will continue until Castillo, HanRam and the Panda cash their last checks.

    Maybe this big time rotation can throw 4 or 5 shutouts in the next week to let the winning continue while Mookie gets well and JDM rests his back. JDM should be only DH'ing right now. Holt can cover the open OF spot with Beni and JBJr. Did Nunez have surgery also on his knee ? The Sox are getting a lot of mileage out of EN .

    There are always big differences between reality and perception. You don't get the "best record in MLB" without better than good pitching, so we must have had it so far from the 7 guys who have started more than one game (Bye, Jalen). With non-contributor Pomeranz out of the way for awhile, just keep taking series wins and run with the Yankees. The other comment about the quality of pitching is that the offense has not scored too many laughers but are consistently in the 5-6 run range over the last month or more. You therefore need pitching (starters and relievers) who only allow 4 or 5 runs, so we are getting that as well.

    It was PawSox field trip night so the AAA'ers could see what the postgame food spread was like. Think of it; Beeks, Travis, even Swihart catching (made some sense), and then with Vazquez DH'ing. It was treated like a losable game and sure enough they did due to 1-10 w/RISP. Now another Pawtucket starter , Justin Haley, gets called up for his turn at the clubhouse. Now why would they send Beeks back and bring another starter up if no intent to start him. Johnson and Velazquez are the long relief. Do you throw Haley in the long mix just to observe him ? Does someone know something in the FO regarding pitching personnel problems or issues ??

    Maybe Brian Johnson should have gotten the spot start based on that 5th inning. Beeks did shut off Detroit in the 2-3-4 innings with minimal damage. Thought his overall delivery was not smooth or typical but neither is Sale's. Maybe DD brought Beeks up to showcase him trying to trade for a catcher ? Hah

    You do have to wonder why this was important to modify the rotation. On the one hand see what Jalen does have, and on the other they can afford to drop one if he lays an egg, which he did . So now you send a unconfident, depressed kid back to Pawsox to tell they guys what is what like pitching with 2 outs in MLB. The Dodgers did a similar thing last night with a young call up and he got pounded too. Just put it down as an experiment that accomplished very little unless the Sox go bat nuts in the next few innings.

    Try to resign JDM first. Sale is not the pitcher who will win you a WS. He is obviously very talented and can be dominating on occasion but it's a little hard to see it recently.

    Every team will win 60 and every team wil lose 60, more or less, but what you do in the other 42 determines your success or failure. Sox are 17 wins away from 60 (end of June?), but will have to drop 41 to get 60 losses. This team may well be on its way to a monumental, historic win total. What do you think. Is it all smoke and mirrors so far ? I would have pitched Sale vs Detroit to get the sweep and Beeks later against White Sox. Sherm Lollar sticks in my mind from the 1955 era White Sox.
