  1. Mitch hurt himself flagging down Devers off target throw and twisting back fast to tag the base. Devers then watches 2 good pitches go past him with 2 on and no outs. Free swinger, no way. But he's young and it is early
  2. Quick DD, trade Swihart to the Nats for Collins.
  3. Steve Pearce subbing for tight back Mitch Moreland gets another knock
  4. Johnson gets a 3 inning shutout so far, on 43 pitches. Wonder if Joe Kelly, Matt Barnes, David Price, Erod are tuned into NESN so they can see how a guy with limited talent and basic a junkball repertoire gets it done. Granted he is up against a .500 team that is declining but all the Nationals still belong to the MLBPA. I bet Pomeranz's 4 HR's allowed for Pawsox last night got DD excited.
  5. Top 3 guys in the lineup tonight choosing not to participate. Johnson needs three good innings to get a win qualification.
  6. Oh, the Nunez haters who want Holt, like myself. Actually I credit Nunez with doing what he can with limited talent left in his body. No real complaint but would still start Holt day to day with Nunez off the bench. But then I don't get Cora money for having opinions
  7. Soto shows the benefit of a tactical bunt. JBJr started using this and should continue until the shift shifts in his favor
  8. 7 pitch, 3 out first inning against a less than stellar starter
  9. The baggage is likely lack of self confidence combined with self loathing while putting a tough guy face on for the veneer. I suspect Price and others who have problems with pressure really don't believe they have the right stuff and their conscious mind overrides their actual abilities. Got that from a placard at the Holiday Inn Express last night
  10. Going back to last Friday, the regular offense has scored 1 , 11, 1 and 1 plus Porcellos 3 run double. The 1's don't get the prize. A win tonight behind Johnson et alia would be a big deal. Nationals are only 1 game over .500 vs the Sox 28. Who would you bet on?
  11. Cora is making another error here, leaving Benintendi in ( instead of tomorrow off) and putting Nunez in for Holt at 2B is not playing the hot hand. This is a game of trends and streaks both good and bad. I 'm not getting Cora here. And it isn't any lefty/righty matchup BS
  12. Hope the Sox find a way to become Price-less in the future, sooner than later, subject to change of heart without notice if he can beat the Orioles.
  13. John Stirling would be the absolute worst next door neighbor and Susan Waldman who i know, would be #2
  14. That can help offset the 4 games not yet played by NYY . As hsrd as it is to maintain a .667 record over a season, neither Sox nor NY are letting up much. Since the 17-2 opening, the Sox are now 40-27 or .597 which by itself would be a 96 win pace. Yankees had a similar streak later so they remain tightly bunched but light years ahead of other teams except the Astros. ALDS and ALCS may be one for the ages. in the WC play -in game, one team's fans butts will be eating sofa cushions as their 100 win team plays a much weaker record.
  15. Great news if they can make it stand
  16. Beni, Bogie, Moreland, Devers go 1 for 16 , followed by 3 for 3 Holt , who did get caught trying to run on a good LH'er.
  17. A road win in a NL city with JDM resting has to be of some value. The hitters certainly didn't do much on an off night for Scherzer . Maybe we load up tomorrow and don't need Kelly , Barnes or anybody else.
  18. Braves trying to get the Yankees 3-3 in the 10th w/MoB and 2 outs
  19. Pure Joe Kelly f***ing you from the clubhouse
  20. It will be over 30 and Craig looks gassed
  21. I realize most all MLB hitters can catch up to 100mph FB if they see a few, but who is that is actually calling these breaking pitches by Kimbrel and Kelly. It would be one thing if they could throw it for a strike or near the plate, but they don't.
  22. Part of Kelly's contribution to the team is that Kimbrel had to warmup in the BP, take 8 pitches off the mound in the 8th, another 8 to open the 9th, and will use probably 25 actual pitches , rendering him hors de combat tomorrow night. Thanks, JOE for sharing and caring
  23. Actually that is a TACTIC, not a strategy, not unlike a football team's philosophy which is always a joke.
  24. Beni gets the golden sombrero but don't fear he will have a day off tomorrow to ponder his utter futility
