One question; why was Valdez pitching the 9th with a 19 run lead? Cora has both Robles and Davis who would have been much more suited to clean-up duty. Hopefully, this doesn't destroy Valdez's confidence going forward.
One of the dumbest moves I've seen a manager do in years. Cora may be the most lovable, but he's certainly not the smartest tool in the box.
I'm just tired of this blaming VAZ for what is the worst starting rotation in the AL. Well, maybe not the worst in the AL, but definitely the worst among teams over .500.
In fact, once VAZ is gone I expect Bloom to extend Richards' contract. Damn, if Bloom or Cora had noticed earlier that VAZ was the problem, the SOX would be, at least, 10 games ahead in 1st place.
Cora, knowing E-rod's history in the 6th, probably would have liked to start the inning with SAW, but how do you pull E-rod when he only gave up 1 run after 5, without a ton of 2nd guessing?
So if the SOX get rid of VAZ, Bloom can keep this starting rotation next season, because it was all the catcher's fault. And all this time I thought our starting pitching sucked, when, in reality, it was VAZ who sucked.
