In regards to Story being a future Albatross, it comes down to how important is it having arguably the best defensive SS in the AL on the SOX?
Obviously, the HOF, in most cases, doesn't respect excellent defensive players. I think Story next season will have an offensive season more in line with his lifetime stats.
But there's no denying the guy will save the SOX a lot of runs defensively.
Sale won't be the 1st Albatross. There were Crawfuls, Pandas, Price is wrongs, Hanleys, well, you get the drift. But, as you posted, Story could easily join the Albatross parade.
Do you think Sale would pull a Ryan Dempster and retire after this season, saving the SOX his next year's money? I think the odds of that happening are right back to my winning the Powerball lottery.
Devers barreled 3 pitches last night and got nothing to show for it. Today he hits a weak blooper over the infield for a hit. Baseball is a F'Ked up sport.
Fun Contest:
Devers has been STUCK at 29 homers for quite awhile. What date do you predict Raffy will hit his 30th? You may also predict that he won't hit 30.
Finishing at 18-3 will allow the SOX to win 90. Stranger things have happened( the Rockies in 2007), but this would have to be filed under 'strangest.'

When one looks at the different aspects of this SOX team, the very bad defense, the bad starting pitching, the overused BP, and the inconsistent offense, it's actually surprising the SOX are as high as the mediocre level, so far.
For entertainment value a team should either be very good or very bad. Mediocrity equals boredom. However, there's enough tough games remaining for the SOX to sink below mediocrity and level off in 'bad' territory.
Hey, Vegas, I believe we've passed being fans; I believe now we are members of a cult.
I'd opt for deprogramming, but that's not covered by my insurance.
It worked for Bra Man and I'm sure it would work for Walter. You can just smell the potential. Sorry, that wasn't the smell of potential, it was just me flatulating.
It appears my computer's spell check has never heard of the word 'flatulating.'
