I mentioned earlier that the SOX have a tougher remaining schedule than the Yankems, but I just remembered that the Yankems have a worse record against teams under .500 than teams over .500. Plus, the Yankems still have 9 games left against the O's.
Actually we agree. The reason Price shouldn't have gone more than 6 was because of his pitch count, which was caused by his control issues. Also the bad umpiring added to Price's pitch count.
Price's control was not that good tonight and his pitch count attests to that. Price has to go more than 6 against good teams because in the playoffs that's all he's gonna see is good teams.
The hardest job for a manager is whether to leave a pitcher in or take him out. For a rookie manager it's even harder. I think Madden probably has the best feel for that part of the job.
The game is played by humans and these things can happen. In fact, they happen a few times during a long season. It's imperative to keep these kind of games to a minimum and the good teams do.
Taking 3 of 4 w/o Sale is impressive and everyone on this thread would have taken that before the series started. Tanaka pitched a good game and the Yankem BP is their strong point.
