  1. And only 4 flavors of ice cream.
  2. Well then, I guess I'm wrong.
  3. In the days of fewer injuries there were no weight rooms.
  4. For many of the everyday players, IMHO, too much time in the weight room is the cause of many injuries.
  5. Remember, the less one expects, the less disappointed one will be.
  6. Stay tuned. This and many other questions will be answered this coming Friday night.
  7. After the last 3 seasons there's no way they can be sellers. Of course, how the Sox FO defines buying probably won't match up with how many of us define buying.
  8. Those were the days of one year contracts. Players played through injuries to avoid a pay cut the following year.
  9. Apparently there were two sections of the CF wall. The wall where Willie was running toward when he made the catch was 450 feet. Just to the left is the deepest part of CF at 483 feet.
  10. I just checked. CF wall at the Polo Grounds was 483 feet from home plate. Vic's fly ball traveled 420 feet.
  11. It was in one of those world series games that Mays made that great catch of the ball hit by Vic Wertz at the Polo Grounds. In fact, that catch could have only been made at the Polo Grounds. I believe CF was 450 feet from home plate.
  12. I guess you could also add the pitch count as another reason.
  13. There will never again be a team with four 20 game winners for two main reasons; a five man staff and the fragility of today's starting pitchers.
  14. When one thinks of great pitching staffs, one rarely thinks of the Sox..
  15. The Red Sox haven't had a 4 man staff that competes with this list since perhaps 1915.
  16. The 1954 Cleveland Indians. Feller 13-3 Garcia 19-8 Lemon 23-7 Wynn 23-11
  17. Both Jim Rice and Ron Santo were inducted long after they should have been. Rice and the press didn't get along too well, so there's that. The only thing I know about Santo is that he was inducted 2 years after his death. Hopefully, Evans will be inducted while he's alive.
  18. Would anyone here trade Duran and Perales for Edward Cabrera in a three team deal involving San Diego and Miami?
  19. And the Sox having not retired his number 24 is blasphemous.
  20. Pedro was motivated by his hate of the Dodgers and YAZ was treated like Tom Yawkey's son.
  21. Both Williams and Rice played most of their career with chips on their shoulders which motivated both to excell.
  22. Both Manny and Papi had the perfect personalities to excell in Boston.
