Rice and Lynn both came up to Sox late in the second half of the 1974 season and both were so good the press referred to them as the Gold Dust Twins.
-
That's the long and the short of it.
-
I'm employing 'Twins' in reference to the 'Gold Dust Twins', which Anthony and Mayer are certainly not.
-
Also, the Day-To-Day Twins works.
-
Anthony and Mayer. The Injure Easily Twins.
-
Pitching and defense have been strong on this team. When was the last time we could say that?
-
Just discovered that Ashby is a relief pitcher. WTF
-
Just be sure the Sox FO staples Masa to Sonny in the trade.
-
Sonny may be the most wanted available starter going into the TDL. I'm sure the Dodgers are sniffing around.
-
Whatever Whitlock had has gone AWOL.
-
Since the '24 season, Sonny has a W/L record of 36-18, including tonight's game. Having a 9-1 record on this team is beyond amazing.
-
Another excellent performance by Sonny tonight.
-
Aaron Ashby leads MLB in wins with 10. If Sonny gets the win tonight he'll be tied for 2nd with 9.
-
Bingo!
-
Durbin's been the Sox best hitter over the last month.
-
My thought is that the LH batters can't hit the ball to left to take advantage of the wall and most of the RH batters can't reach the wall. IOW, this Sox offense wasn't built for Fenway.
-
At least Masa puts the ball in play. The longer the Sox delay trading Duran, the less he's gonna be worth. I'm not even sure his value right now is as high as some posters think.
-
Nice play by Abreu.
-
Nice play by Sonny.
-
This Sullivan rag arm has nothing, which explains why the Sox have 3 runs
-
Dig this stat. Of Duran's 12 HR's 10 have been solo shots.
-
Sad as this choice is, I'd rather have Masa as DH over Duran.
-
Eaton s/b the full time LF and Duran s/b used as a pinch runner.
-
The Sox would have trouble hitting homers on the moon.

Ernie Lombardi, who was a catcher during the 30's and 40's, is considered the slowest base runner in MLB history. Many times he would get thrown out at 1st by the right fielder. However, being the fine hitter that he was, he finished his fairly long career with a very respectable BA of .306.
